Touhou anime series (you wish)

So what do you think is deserving of animu treatment (and will probably never get it)? Pretend that Kyoto Animation is in charge.

- planetarian OVA voiced by Ayako Kawasumi. In fact they can probably stretch it into an entire season if they animated the backstory as well.

- even more Crest of the Stars seasons, also starring Ayako Kawasumi.

- Eternal Fighter Zero, where the Kanon and Air characters beat each other to a bloody pulp (also starring Ayako Kawasumi)

A new Patlabor series. I don't care if it's an OVA or a new TV series, but with all these resources and technology oh my god I am weeping just thinking of it. Studio Headgear, of course.

Everyone would also love a Yotsuba anime, but it needs to be done right. No cutting corners with animation and character art, nor voicework either.

Just recently I thought to myself how I'd loooove to see Unbalance X Unbalance get the anime treatment, but how often to korean manhwa get animated, in Korea or elsewhere? :(

It would also be amazing if they could make a faithful anime adaption of Blade of the Immortal. I have no idea how they'd do it, but if they could pull it off, with the same high quality writing and visual level, you could have an immediate classic.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I'd also be in favor of a Yotsuba anime. It'd be made of pur win.

Another one that i'd be interested in seeing if made into an anime would be one involing the OS-tans. I think wacky hijinks would ensue, laughs would be made. Fun times.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I am seconding a new Patlabor series. This series, despite made in the eighties, still holds quite true in todays society. Even though we see hilarious bulky CRT monitors for the ingrams and some very 80's "futuristic" technology, along with laughable CG used in the early 90's, an update would be more than wonderful. I wouldn't mind beg if most of the original seiyuu returned, especially Ryunosuke Ohbayashi, Yoshiko Sakakibara (GITS:SAC GIG2 Prime Minister), and of course Miina Tominaga, made an awesome comeback. Unfortunately we'll have to find a replacement for Kanuka Clancy. >_> There are a few unfinished plots in the Patlabor TV universe, and I'm sure we could make up a new villian against Capt Goto, whom he stated he has more enemies than friends. Better yet, I'd love for a fourth and proper movie that either ressurects the Phantom, or even a rogue military labor where the SV2 has to stop (unlike the first movie). Studio Headgear at the helm, please.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Shin Angyo Onshi - A Manwha that is pretty good, reminds me of Berserk. Cool characters, amazing art and a story that still manages to keep me interested. There was an OVA a few years ago I think, and a complete series in that style would be just awesome.

Pluto - Naoki Urasawa, need I say more?

Vinland Saga - From the mangaka who also created Planetes goodness, this one also shows a lot of potential.

Yes to violent Kanon, Eternal Fighter Zero style. You just know that having Nayuki's mom flying around with a butcher knife would be part of some awesome battles. Of course anything lethal-looking will be evaded until the finishing blow of one match which would involve her flipping a car over to blow Makoto to bits!

Yotsuba anime would be an obvious yes, although they would have to accurately capture the child-like charm without ruining. They'd have to capture the innocence instead of just relying on Yotsuba's natural cuteness.

You know what I wouldn't mind seeing? An honest to god true to the original story and character design of an Ken Akamatsu manga but apparently that's just asking waaaay too much. Scientifically impossible you see.

Serious side though, I wouldn't mind a complete verbatim of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou . The OVAs were pretty good and got the feel of it but were only bits and pieces of the manga and didn't cover much in the grand scheme of things. If done by perhaps Studio Kyoto all the way through with a gigantic budget it would anime's pinacle of slice of life and possibly the most detailed world ever animated.

Quoted for truth.

I'm going to play the touhoutard here and say that I would honestly like to see a Touhou anime. However, it's questionable as to how the story would play out. Would it be quasi-serious like the games try to be or would it take on a more humorous approach like so many doujin works do? I guess it'd all be up to ZUN.

I'd also like to see to-LOVE-ru animated. Yabuki Kentaro deserves a good anime adaptation after what happened to Black Cat.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I know that its gone from Novel to Film to Manga, but I'd love to see a Battle Royal anime... just for the interpretation and differences I could find. I loved watching Seven Samurai, then Gonzo's version of it, Samurai 7, and finding the differences. Doing the same for Battle Royal would be a blast for me. ^^;;

The original Gundam series...

O wait they already did that lol....

But seriously though, the Ragnarok manwhas in anime form would be pretty amazing. Not that crap Ragnarok the Game the Animation. But RagnaroK.

Otherwise if you wanna do Touhou, a perfect cherry blossom anime would be hilarious kinda.... Watching a shrine maiden, or a maid dodge all these balls of death as other strange moe characters fly around and do whatever it is moe characters do.

I'd say that Imperishble Night would be the most fitting. It tells of the story of Kaguya, and possibly Sakuya's story as well.
Btw I 2nd'ed Acer's Post, I mean cmon!! But Ken did do Itsudatte My Santa though.. I would love to see a complete rework of the original anime.

For anime treatment/reparation:
1. Megami Kohousei. Strange ending. It should be a little longer, and the story plot should be more detail. It confuses me until now; in fact, I think the anime has no ending.
2. Samurai 7. The ending sucks.
3. Flame Of Recca. I almost cried when I see the anime series. They could've done better than that!
4. AIR The Animation. The storyline is too complex to be made into a-12-episode anime. It should be a bit longer!

Things that should be animated:
1. Red Eyes (manga). Cool graphic, cool story, cool characters.
2. Enzai (game, OVA). A remake would be cool, though it contains too much BL.
3. Battle Royale (movie). Now that's cool.
4. Valkyrie Profile (game). Need to say more?

3x3 Eyes TV - I hope and pray for this every time I read the manga. It has a great story with nice action, and it features a very likable pair of protagonists. The gore would have to be censored a bit, however. You probably couldn't have Hayashibara Megumi do Pai's voice again, but you get someone else with great (and suitable) range, like Yukino Satsuki.

Gyakuten Saiban/Phoenix Wright - Personally, I'll be shocked if there isn't a TV series of this within the next 5 years. Seki Tomokazu should voice Edgeworth. Maya could be voiced by Saito Chiwa, Horie Yui, or Kobayashi Sanae.

Pyuu to Fuku! Jagaa - a Jump comic that's relatively unknown outside of Japan, it's pure gag manga. But it's great stuff.

Tomokazu Seki would be better suited voicing Phoenix Wright, with all his wacky antics. Edgeworth... maybe Tomokazu Sugita or Takehito Koyasu.

Ayako Kawasumi (hrhr) can voice Maya. Sayaka Ohara should suit Mia well.

Ah yes! The crazy adventures of the eccentric recorder player and the unfortunate guitar player would be another good addition in the same vein of random as Bobobo or Gintama.

I'd also like to see some other obscure manga made into anime series such as:

Majin Tantei Neuro - This would be really good for the mystery genre, definitely packed with humour as well with Neuro's sadistic abuse of Yako. Supernatural crime solving with an unfortunate person caught up in it, having no choice.

Muhyo to Rouji Another one for supernatural crime solving, although this would take a little dip into horror since the ghosts all look pretty grotesque and terrifying. The magical law citations are sure to please people that like finishing strikes of all manners. Of course, Rouji being the blundering assistant archetype will helpp viewers relate.

Eko to Issho - I keep picturing Chobits when I think of it and the direction it could go as an anime. A boy that finds an abandoned "cell phone" which is actually a girl and his struggles to use modern technology. So Chobits already without the romance..yet.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I would really like to see a Touhou anime show.. Doubt it's going to happen (much to my dismay).. though it doesn't mean I can't go and dream about it.. lol

Valkyrie Profile- I very very much agree with this.. The game is cool and greatily done it needs a anime... simple as that..

I would look forwards to another season of Gunslinger Girl since we didn't really get a clue as to what would happen to the girls and the government organization. While I've yet to read further on in the manga, I do see a good opportunity for a sequel with more psychological goodness and a bit more closure to the excellent storyline.

Touhou would definately be at the very top of such a wish list for me. It would probably not be an easy feat since there would be so many different ways to go at it, but as long as I could have it go anyway I wanted, I'd like it to pretty much follow the formula of the Variant of Youyoumu and other doujins by the same artist.

Rockman Zero - the GBA games have a pretty simple way of telling the story within the games, but unlike the other Rockman series (in my opinion at least), the story told in it is actually very intriguing. The information in the official fanbook and the drama tracks on the soundtrack cds help flesh it out a lot, and there's enough material in those to create an animated series. Then, when the story arcs end, ZX could begin.

Valkyrie Profile - I also agree with this.

I was speaking idiomatically.

What exactly defines "quality" here? Tsukihime did not really have stellar art or anything.

I was talking about story rather than art. I'm going to be honest and say that I didn't watch the Tsukihime anime, but I've played the visual novel. I'm going off of my friends opinions, and other sources. From what I've heard it didn't do the visual novel justice, and wasn't worth watching if you've seen the anime. What I want is similar to what happened with Kanon. The visual novel is great (I'm assuming this, I know a few people who are on the TL project) and the anime does a nice job of complimenting it, and is worth watching if you've read the VN.

In an ironic twist of fate touhou is being anime'd or so rumors say. A group/company? called Maikaze is attempting to do a touhou anime. I don't know how well they're gonna do. I know this has been talked about in the other sub-forums but it got less attention.

YouTube Video

So far, it looks good but I haven't heard anything since this video came out though, but we can hope. Can't we? Oh yeah, ignore the Kotoko music. XD

How ya doing, buddy?
