The 101 Most Influential People Who Never Lived
So, some random, self-appointed authority on iconic greatness has compiled a list of the 101 most influential fictional characters of all time.
101 Influential Pretend Guys and Things The list has some questionable inclusions, such as Bambi, Elmer Gantry, Al Jolson's "Mammy", and Buffy the fucking Vampire Slayer. Meanwhile, there are some glaring omissions. This list fails to include obvious landmark characters such as Charlie Brown, Harry Potter, Mario and Bart Simpson. Come on. How in the hell is Buffy more influential than Bart Simpson? So, what do you think of this completely arbitrary and subjective list? Who do you think got shafted, and who precisely is "The Wandering Jew"? Most amazing jew boots |
It needs some Aunt Jemima, Betty Crocker, and Chef Boyardee, that's for damned sure.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Oops.

Luke Skywalker making the list over Darth Vader says something. As does the exclusion of, at the very least, Bugs Bunny.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
Archie Bunker being more influential then DRACULA?
...RIGHT. This list just went out the window. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
Kirk and Spock tied? What about Data and Picard?!

So Prometheus is fictional. Hercules is fictional. Pandora is fictional. So by this I am to understand that they consider all Greek mythological figures as fictional. I'm fine with that, but if they are going to consider what were essentially religious figures of the time as fictional, then why not consider any religious figure, whose existence cannot be quantifiably proven, as fictional? Well, I guess they probably didn't want to do that so that they could avoid getting all kinds of hate mail. I mean with a list that read 1. God they'd have gotten an earful, to be sure.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.
All I'm sayin' is, if he comes near me, I'll put him in the wall. |
Couldn't the existence of the Greek gods be (dis)proven by climbing some mountains out there? =\

How Homer Simpson is not on that list if FUCKING beyond me.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
He was a big trend in the middle ages, like spotting the Chupacabras back in the 90s. (While some of the omissions are unforgiveable - the lack of Harry Potter is in good taste) Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
Hansel AND Gretel? Kirk AND Spock? Not only do this list's authors leave off several figures and include some questionable ones, but they can't even count to 101 properly.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD. |
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
You know now that I think about it, for a pretend dude, Jesus Christ was pretty fucking influential and he's not on that list either.
![]() There's nowhere I can't reach. |
There is a historical Jesus Christ.
As to if he's as great and good as Catholics make him out to be - aye, theres the rub. Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
I think that rather than questioning the list, it might be helpful to see if the book is just humor or if this is an "INTERNET IS SERIOUS BUSINESS" thorough explanation and rational lines of support for each character, because if its just a book 'o laffs, don't take it so seriously.

Who on earth is actually INFLUENCED by Hamlet? I mean, quoting him is one thing, but being INFLUENCED by his reasonable lunacy... that's pretty crazy, lol.
And Dr. STRANGELOVE??? He didn't even really DO anything in the movie... I was speaking idiomatically. |
See, I look at this like this: Archie Bunker is influential, I don't deny that, but Dracula has been responsible for the rise of the vampire as a villain and tragic anti-hero (Or in some movies, heroes in their own light against more sinister supernatural entities). There's been a series of mostly successful video-games based around taking down vampires. Movies and theater plays have regularly been made featuring, or have influences from the character (If not having a character being related to the character, or charged with slaying him, his descendant, or incarnations of the man). He's appeared in Comic Books, Novels, Anime & Manga, Television, even cartoons. Dracula is at the top of what is now an archetype for villains. I DO have perspective and that is why I was looking at the overall picture. You could even take a look at his 'contributions' at THIS page. You are free to disagree with me, but please keep yourself civil. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |

A resurgent Eric Roberts is to feature in the next Nolan Batman film. It should do for Roberts what it did for Rutger Hauer.
