Card Games
Hours and hours of fun, but if you don't have a game to play the night is useless.
![]() Jam it back in, in the dark. |
This is a great topic Anazai and it is the reason why I propped you for it.
You can't go wrong with a pack of cards. It is such a great way to kill time with such a wide variety of card games. To me its just a great wayto enjoy a relaxful evening especially with a few friends and a couple of drinks especially back home in rural Newfoundland. I play a lot of card games but I don't know if the majority of them are actually played somewhere else under a different name but some of my favourite card games are: - 7-Up - Scat - 120's - Crazy Eights - School and my all time favourite is a card game called Asshole. If you got a group of friends and it is one of the most hilarious card games you'll ever play. To play it you really need three to six people. I wish I had more time to explain it, but THIS will have to do. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]()

You can't go wrong with Spit either. I love playing this with my friends.
Rules I play by that once you get rid of all your cards, you have to be the first to grab the smaller pile. The other person could still grab the smaller pile and win, even if they're not done with their set. Afterwards, we reshuffle the whole deck and then play again. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
My husband's grandma taught me how to play Double Sol last night after I had a good amount of wine. That was fun. Cooper and I played a little of speed and I completely forgot how to play Go Fish, I know, that's not really something to admit but it was hilarious last night. Tonight though, sucks. Home alone, playing solitare by my self.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Spit is possibly one of my favorite games when I've got another person with good reaction times. Asshole is also a classic from studyhall back in high school (I've also heard it called President). I was actually talking to some jap dude during orientation here at grad school and they have a game really similar to Asshole over there except they had one more wild card or something.
I'm also a big fan of 500 Rummy since it can be played with 2+ people, and is fun since it's a multi-hand game. Also, if you're already a fan of 500 Rummy, be sure to check out Rummykub. It's basically a double set of cards except given as tiles and with a fairly unique way of playing on tricks. Rummikub - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I was speaking idiomatically. |
Asshole is very popular in German high schools, I didn't know that it was so popular abroad. Since I left high school quite some time ago, I am not playing that game anymore, though. I usually play Skat (which happens to be the most popular card game in Germany) and uhh Black Jack (which happens to be the most popular card game in the world).
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
The best card game in the world is Cheat.
You can have as many players as you want and probably need a deck for every four or five players. Players basically place cards from their hand into the middle, face down and declare what they've laid. You have to lay the same or one higher or lower than the previous player and can lay as many of those at once as you like. The first person to get rid of all their cards wins. The point is, because the cards are face down, you can actually put down anything you like. If someone thinks you're cheating they shout cheat. If they were right, you pick up everything in the middle. If they were wrong they pick up everything. The beauty of the game is that an initially simple concept can lead to some really devious tactics. The whole point of the game is to cheat and get away with it. At the basic level, you might put down 3 random cards and call it three 5s but if you're really devious, you'll put down three 5s with another card underneath. Hopefully nobody will notice that you put down four cards and if they call you a cheat there's the correct cards on top. I love playing this game and coming up with new ways to cheat at it, I'm really rather good... FELIPE NO ![]() |
Another good game for a group of people is Shithead. It's been a long time since I played it, but we used to play with about 8 of us and it was a lot of fun. Being able to shout 'shithead' at the loser is an amusing bonus, as is getting them to do something for you if you agree to that rule. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Shithead is a close runner up, yeah. Especially when everyone's drunk and you have a different rule in place for every card in the deck.

My favorite card game is called "Conquian" My uncle taught me how to play it when I was a kid and I've become really good at it since then. It's too bad that I don't know a single person my age here that plays it. However, if I ever want to return to my humble beginnings of getting worked in a card game like a hooker at a car show, all I have to do is hunt down some of the old timers that play with my dad once in a while; they've been playing all their lives and are phenomenal at the game so I always take a good beating.
Most of you guys probably know this as Rummy but in Mexico we didn't play by Rummy rules; we played by these rules. I really don't like it when I start wanting to teach people how to play this game under these rules and they say, "OH! IS THIS LIKE RUMMY?!?! LOL!" NO. No it isn't. Pull your head out of your ass and listen to the rules. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
How ya doing, buddy? |
Ah, Shin, you've just brought a ton of sixth form memories back to me. We used to play Shithead and Cheat all the time. We also used to play Black Jack (this was probably required on drunken fridays when everyone was too fuckered to play something complicated), sometimes Poker (although not everyone knew how so this was less popular), a few times we played Dominos (I'm sure that was what it was called, I do mean the card game) and Speed had a good run for a while as well. I'm sure there was a game called Chinese Snap, a variation of the rather basic original, which had a vogue for a few months. A couple of friends of mine even invented their own card game. It was called Two Stools but I'll have to ask one of them for the rules. Ah, common room good times.
About a year ago a friend of mine who is quite the gambling sort became obsessive about having Poker nights. These were always unsuccesful; we'd play a few rounds of Texas Hold 'Em and then sod off the card games for a good drinking session. Either that or it turned into strip card games and after than no one really cared much for money. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() ![]()

I always thought the drinking game of 'Asshole' was way too complicated... of course, thats probably because I had already started drinking when people thought it would be a good idea to play. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |

Yeah that BullShit game is actually a ton of fun. I've played that soo many times. I actually forgot about it and now I'm going to have to play it again here soon.
