Earphones
I bought a pair of plain earbud type earphones from Panasonic 3 months ago. Now only the right side produces sound. Before that, I had a pair of Sony clip type earphones. After 4 months, it completely stopped working.
I've been thinking of buying a new pair but I want one that wouldn't stop working so easily. Earbud type has always been my preference but the clip type would also be ok. I dont like the canal types because really hurt. Does anyone know of a good brand for earbud type earphones? So far I've only tried Panasonic ans Sony. Oh yeah. I use my earphones on a creative mp3 player. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() from the makers of Death Note!! Bakuman. Am happy..because AgitoXIII and Parasite Eve 3 is a comin to the PSP!! |
Sennheiser is a good brand, or so I've heard.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
If they're dying that quickly on you it might just be you're mistreating them. My cheap Sony earbuds lasted me at least two years before I started having that problem, as did the even cheaper Radio Shack pair I had prior to them.
Do you tug on the jack or bend it frequently? Usually the soldered spot falls off there and you're left with sound only coming out of one side. Also, you should check your warranty info for the set that just broke. Usually they give you one year or so. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
The Sony pair I bought only has Japan warranty...I also tried the service centers but they told me that they didn't repair accessories. The Sony pair I bought were the retractable type to avoid any pulling or bending that might happen when I put the earphones in my pocket but they still broke faster than my old earbuds. I think my earbuds broke easily because I put them in my pocket, but where else can I put them without too much hassle O.O.
@RacinReaver: How did you make them last that long. The only time mine lasted around that long was when I didn't use them for a while. @Zergrinch: I have seen that brand around. I'll try asking the store clerk. I heard about this other brand "Audio Technica" is their earbuds any good?? I read somewhere that they came with one of those ipods. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() from the makers of Death Note!! Bakuman. Am happy..because AgitoXIII and Parasite Eve 3 is a comin to the PSP!! |
You just have to be sure never to put tension in the wire. I tended to wrap my earphones around my iPod after using them, leaving a bit of slack at the beginning of the wire so it wouldn't pull the soldered connection apart.
And I used mine just about every day, usually walking to/from school, while in between classes at school, and whenever I decided to do homework in a computer cluster while at school. I was speaking idiomatically. |
You know that as soon as I saw this, I had to reply.
First off, what is your price range? Second, what kind of sound signature do you prefer? More bass? Less bass? More treble? Or more balanced? Third, what kind of music do you normally listen to? Fourth, you say that canal types are too painful. But really, which ones have you tried? The higher-end ones all have interchangeable eartips for small, medium, and large ear canals, with soft, medium and firm tip hardnesses. @RacinReaver: Hmm I'll remeber that when I buy my next pair. Thanks
@PiccoloNamek: Answer to first: Since price here are a bit different. I usually spend 600 pesos or a bit more for my earbuds. My price range is roughly $13.00-$20.00?? Answer to second: I think I would choose "more balanced". Answer to third: I listen to almost any type of music. Currently I have a couple of rock-ish , pop, lounge or chillout, ballads, classic, techno.....but I still change the songs in my player. Answer to fourth: I tried a couple of canal types at a store. It didn't feel quite right. I also tried adjusting the sizes. My other problem with the canal types is that my ears actually start to get painful. Not just the lobe but also the inside. My family has a history of ear problems so..I get a bit paranoid at times. FELIPE NO ![]() from the makers of Death Note!! Bakuman.
