WAV Editors

Before Nero got all crappy I got acquianted with its nice little wave editor program.

Anyone got a suggestion for a good wav editor program?

Also, does anyone know a good program that'll help remove vocals?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Audacity is a pretty good and free program (though the visuals could use a makeover).

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Adobe Audition or Audacity are really your best choices.

I don't mean to be bashing proprietary software all the time, but it has become kind of a creepy situation in the field of media editing: Either an overprized Adobe product or some open source effort. What the heck happened to competition?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

There is other software out there too you know, you could always use fruityloops, alot of the recording software such as ProTools also alow editing but you pay a premium for it. Lets not forget you need some experience with music technology to be able to write such programs and hence the premium on the products

I agree, but LAME contains algorithms which existed prior to its creation created by the Fraunhofer Society which is a very large company. I doubt LAME would have come into existence without those

Goldwave is a pretty good lite wav editor. Well, or at least it was when I last checked (I still have some version 4 or 5 on my comp). Dunno if they bulked it up since then.

I have the recent version. Not many changes since 4 or 5. They made it look 'sleaker', improved the usability, and made some of their features work a little better, but everything's still there.

yeah, i like goldwave a lot. it's easy to use and has some cool effects in there as well.
