What are you currently playing?
I'm sort of surprised this thread isn't already made here. But whatever.
---------------------------------------------------- Thread rules: Drop the name of what you're currently playing, what console it's on, and what you like/dislike about it. IMPORTANT: What to post: Explain why you are playing what you are. Elaborate on what you like or dislike about it. Discuss, theorize, propose questions. This is not a dumping ground nor a chat room. You must write and form well thought out posts. If you don't think it's worth the hassle, do not post. What NOT to post: If your post's content level is equal to this:
-------------------------------------------------------- I'm currently playing Dead Rising. It's a little repetitive but I'm enjoying it so far. I'm not took keen on saving people, though. Mostly due to the clumsy AI, which doesn't improve until later in the game when you obtain a book that "brainwashes hostages into running through zombie crowds", but it still ain't great. Right now I'm trying to get the Zombie Genocide Achievement (53,000+ zombie kills) so I can blast the crap out of psychopaths with the Mega Man Buster. Jam it back in, in the dark.

There has been so much that I want to play, but right now I'm trying to focus on Odin Sphere. This game is simply fantastic, but can be a little too simple (in concept) at times. I was hoping for just a little more depth with this one, but oh well, it's still a great game.
Battlefield 2142 has been soaking up a monstrous amount of my gaming time as well. Just like all the Battlefield games, this one is no different in the fun department. So much to do, so many unlocks to get, so many pins to earn, and oh so many dog-tags to collect. I also recently acquired Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner, which has been taunting me horribly for days now. I'll probably end up starting it up real soon. There is only so long I can hold out. That's about it for now. Trying to stay focused on as few games as possibly right now, so I can actually finish some! How ya doing, buddy? |
I am playing a few games, but I just talk about the one console game I bee playing the most of
Spiderman 3 "movie game for ps2" It is a decent movie game. I almost got the the end and I think it is pretty fun game. Tho there is the same repetitiveness like I remember fro the game fr movie 2 at least they made them a bit more fun this time around. Tho a few of the changes since the last one some good and some bad, but it is worth a play through. I'm alternating between two games right now: Innocent Life: A futuristic Harvest Moon (PSP) and Baldur's Gate (PC).
Innocent Life: I don't know, it's really nothing new compared to all the other Harvest Moons. You prepare soil, plant seeds and pick vegetables just like in the predecessors. Almost only the surface has changed, which is a bit disappointing. It's very repetetive, but it suits well for traveling and such. I thought I'd try a full year before I decide to quit or not. I think I liked the original Harvest Moon for the SNES better, in all it's simpleness. Baldur's Gate: I never did come aroud to finishing this game way back when, but I at least got as far as Baldur's Gate before I just stopped playing. I don't know, I think it has a little too much trial & error for my tastes, and I'm not very fond of the dialogue boxes either. They should have thought of a better way to move the story forward imo. About the trial & error: It reminds me a bit about Tomb Raider. Totally different game, I know, but the concept is the same. You walk into a new area, there are monsters there that you try to fight, you die horribly. In Tomb Raider, you die a lot(at least I did) from falling down cliffs and such, thus the t&e. Anyways, back to BG: I don't see what all the fuss is about and I didn't back then either, but it is enjoyable at times and this time around I'm trying it in another fashion than I did back then (chaotic evil necromancer ftw!). Maybe I'll get around to finishing it this time. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Super Paper Mario
I'm almost at the end now at Bleck's castle, already beaten O'Chunks and Mimi. Absolutely brilliant game, too. The whole thing feels like an homage to Mario's and Nintendo's long legacy. And of course the whole 2D/3D flipping mechanic is nothing short of amazing, and fun. The three playable characters other than Mario feel a little like glorified Pixls tho, since you'll be playing as Mario most of the time on account of his flipping powers. The story is surprisingly good tho, and the dialogue is just brilliantly hilarious as always. Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes So far it's pretty much a mixed bag; on the one hand we have prettier graphics and gameplay enhancements from MGS2, on the other we have mediocre, utterly inferior voice acting compared to the original and sometimes neat, mostly unnecessary Matrix-y cutscenes. Nonetheless, it's still entertaining enough, and isn't that what matters most in a game? Plus I finally got the experience the Psycho Mantis battle the way it was meant to be (damn you, PC version!). Killer 7 Honestly. EVERYTHING about this game is utterly disturbing and bizarre. I love it already. Combat is tricky tho since precise aiming with the GC controller takes time, and you usually don't have much time before one of those Heaven Smile freaks blows up in your face. Plus the weirdness is a bit of a double-edged sword, as sometimes you'll have absolutely no ****ing clue as to what to do next. Nonetheless, it's a bizarre and unique experience and for that reason alone I love it. And Harman is an effing badass for a crippled guy in a wheelchair. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() Anime lover, gamer, and dreamer |
SimCity 4
Playing it mostly for the Community project thing here in GFF (look in my sig). When I first played it many moons ago, I really sucked at it, but now, although I'm not perfect, I don't suck anymore. Awesome. I wish you didn't have to maintain EVERYTHING (like parks) though, unlike SC3, and I do miss the SC3KU Asian tileset. Serious Sam II Playing the game co-op with a new GFFers. It's fun. Now if my wrists weren't hurting, I'd also be playing: Harvest Moon DS This game is really hard to start up, forcing you to build your entire farm from scratch, but other than that, it's just as much as fun as the GBA games. It's too bad I like the people more from the GBA games. Natsume better bring out the girl version here. Phantasy Star IV This is included in the SEGA Genesis Collection. It's quite fun and I am stuck at the Air Castle. I'm thinking of replaying ToS but I don't really touch my consoles anymore, and the SC4 project's going to be sucking up most of my time anyway. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
Right now I'm playing Odin Sphere and Planet Puzzle League (was playing Burnout Revenge and Gears of War but xbox broke =/ )
Odin Sphere's great. A one-of-a-kind RPG/brawler with amazing graphics, a good soundtrack, and interesting stories (5 characters each with their own story within an overarching event). My only complaint would be that as I'm at the 4th character now, the locations and boss fights are getting a little repetitive. Planet Puzzle League's great too. I loved Tetris Attack on the SNES and with the ability to play online this game takes it a step further. Kinda wish it was easier to find people to play though. Anyone have this and wanna play online? How ya doing, buddy?

Since I have a new computer, I've been trying out lots of games that I never played before. I just played Warcraft III for the first time last night, and I've been playing Diablo II, Starcraft, and DOOM 3. I've got a save at the final boss in DOOM 3 that I just need to finish.
I haven't touched it in a while, but I'm still in the middle of Super Paper Mario. And I was going to start a new PS2 game soon (I've got a lot of games I haven't played or played much), maybe pick up where I stopped at God of War or play Shadow of the Colossus. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I have Odin Sphere and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner to play, but I've been playing shitloads of GTA: San Andreas for some reason instead. I'm roughly in the middle of the San Fierro missions, if I recall correctly. Spent a lot of time taking photos of all 50 snapshots as well as spraying over the 100 gangs tags in Los Santos. I've also done most of the vehicular side-missions aside from the firefighter and pimping ones.
Since I already know the story and shit I guess I'm just taking my time messing about. Jumping off Mount Chilliad in a monster truck (and bailing out half-way) is pretty awesome, I say. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I've been playing Rogue Galaxy a lot lately... The game is pretty well set up and the voice over work is done really well. Not many problems with the game, but the enemies get strong too quickly, and there's a serious lack of money in the game. Also, the dungeons are longer than... Um... Any dungeon I've seen in any game so far...
Also a lot of Soul Calibur III thanks to my cousin. <_< How ya doing, buddy? |

I've been playing Super Paper Mario for Wii for the past couple weeks off & on. I like that it contains some good 'ole 2d Mario goodness, along with hidden areas. The story is actually kind of funny and I enjoy the game's humor.
I just started MDK 2 for PS2. This is another game that uses humor to good effect. The controls took a bit of getting used to. The thing I don't like is that it seems you can't configure each button on the controller, but instead you have to pick from around 12 different configurations. With all the different buttons, this gets too confusing. But, once you find the "right" configuration, it's all good. I am at the first boss, and it's a massive arena-style environmental boss, which is very cool for a first-gen PS2 game. Overall, I think I will probably end up liking MDK 1 better than its sequel, but we shall see... How ya doing, buddy? |
Well, since I see that my post got deleted and the opening thread got updated (give more info please!), I guess I will repost with my "more info".
I'm currently replaying Diablo II, but with the Eastern Sun mod attatched to it. I've just gotten in the mood to replay this classic (maybe in the hopes that by playing it, I will influence the Diablo Gods to announce they are indeed working on a DIII this Blizzcon). and I figured I'd try it with a mod to change what there was in it. Everyone knows what DII is, but for those that have been living in a cave for the last 12 years, it is an action RPG hack-and-slash where you create your character and basically hunt for items in order to become "uber". In doing so you take out the 3 brothers of Hell who are trying to take over this mortal realm (yet again). The Eastern Sun mod adds in a ton of new items, new crafting recipes, a HUGE stash with which to packrat all of your finds, changes to many skills, a new layout for the acts (as well as new areas to explore as well), new monsters (or old ones if you want to say, from DI). All in all, a very well done mod, and I heartily recommend it for those that want something the same and yet a little different. I've also been playing Oblivion again. Okay, that's a lie. I've been getting ready to play Oblivion again, by downloading and installing a ton of updated mods since the new patch has come out and I have obtained the Shivering Isles expansion. Being out of it for a while, I am eager to see what sort of enhancements have been made for this game, and am hoping to be absorbed in my character for hundreds of hours yet again. Oblivion is one of those games where you create a character and go and save the world. However, Oblivion allows you the freedom to completely ignore the main quest if you wish and do a ton of other side quests, or just live your life as a hunter/collector. I am downloading more "realism" mods this time around, as I want to make my experience as immersive as possible. Both of these games are on my PC, and although I have a ridiculous amount of new games to play on both my PS2 and PS3, I just haven't had the hankering to do so. Maybe next month... I was speaking idiomatically. |
I have finished Super Paper Mario
![]() Also had a go at the Pit of 100 Trials, and made it somewhere into the 80's before I met my demise. Mind you, I didn't really make proper preparations before entering though. Been playing through Melty Blood's story mode again as well today. Made it all the way to block O and got my ass thoroughly kicked by Giant Akiha. Now I know what VG Cats meant by "ridiculously unbalanced bosses". What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() Anime lover, gamer, and dreamer |
I've been playing pokemon like crazy for awhile been collecting water pokemon. I have all but 2 water pokemon missing. I have a pokemon team finally. I've been playing on a few other forums now.
Still have to finish Super Princess Peach, I've been busy poke training. I am about to find the last of the captured toads in bowsers castle. Bomberman and Mario Kart DS have been getting dusty, cause I have no one to play them with atm. How ya doing, buddy? |
I've been playing Black and White 2 lately. I don't start it up very often, but it's the game I've been playing most. One of the greatest achievements of this game is the amount of control you have over your view of your world. Every game should have this. I was getting so used to it that I kept expecting to be able to do those things when I was playing other games. Another thing I love about this game is the amount of interaction with the actual people in your game. Unlike Civilization, or simcity, you tell your people what jobs to do, where to live, etc. Another thing that just adds to the greatness of this game are the great graphics. I was amazed at how beautiful some of the scenery in this game is. Sometimes the control scheme is a bit clunky, such as handling your creature, but learning the hotkeys can be quite a help when it comes to that.
How ya doing, buddy? |
The only games I've played recently are Tales of the Abyss and Twilight Princess. I beat Abyss a while ago and I absolutely loved it. I liked the battle system a bit more in Symphonia since you can pick your techs from the T/S line, but it was still pretty enjoyable. At first the fonon circles annoyed me, but they aren't that bad once you get used to them. The plot was predictable at times, but I had fun with it and it kept me interested. I think the game shines most of all with the cast. They all had a good amount of interaction with each other and I liked their development for the most part. I'm usually happy with most rpgs as long as the cast is likeable.
As for Twilight Princess, I also had a lot of fun with it. I'm still trying to decide if I like it more than OoT. Most of the dungeons were pretty fun to play through (I hated that sky place though) and the mini games were fun for the most part (damn you STARS *shakes fist* ). I love the new moves Link has acquired in this installment. ![]() Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I've had a Gamecube for about four years now and bought Pikmin when I got it, but never played through the game. So I've been doing that now. It's fun, but some of the puzzles can get annoying at times. I'll probably keep going until the end just to beat it, since I don't seem to finish many of my GC games...
That said, I also still play Civilization 4 a lot. While it's a resource hog, it runs beautifully on my Macbook Pro. I absolutely love the game, and it has been a worthy addition to the series. That said, playing full games is a very hefty time commitment, and I usually want to start over around the time that I'm strong enough to wage war on everyone else left in the game...Thus, I rarely actually finish a game despite having some 50 save files. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Currently playing Ar Tonelico. The game is really what I expected from Gust. I get the same good feeling I got when I played Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana. The game is pretty similiar to it, but at the same time entirely different. Basically if you liked Atelier Iris, you'll love this game as well.
It has a few really nice ideas in here. The battle system for one, is nothing like I've seen before. You have these females in your party, who are called Reyvateils, and they are what this entire game is about. They can sing special songs that can do just about anything. When the battle starts this gauge keeps going up from 0%. I've seen it go as far as 40000% so far, and the percentage determines the power of the spell. If done right you can pretty much kill anything in 1 shot. The other 3 members in battle can do damage as well, but their main purpose is to defend these Reyvateil long enough for them to cast the spell. The dive system is another cool feature. You basically explore the mind of the Reyvateil in question, and learn more about her as you go along, and unlock new songs. I finally understand why they call it a date-sim RPG. =D I'm also currently playing on a friends World of Warcraft account to powerlevel tailoring for him, but yeah...not so fun. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() Soldier: Prepare yourself, rebel scum!! Arngrim : (These slipshod soldiers think they can call me "rebel scum"?) |
Been playing Pokemon Diamond (DS) for quite a while now, giving my poor handheld a much needed workout (been pretty neglected since I finished off Portrait of Ruin). Combat's a little slow even with animations turned off, but it's still the addicting game it was back in '98 or whenever it was. Right now I'm working on crafting my perfect team, and it's such a nice feeling to know that nobody else has my party setup (because of my use of Underused and even Never Used pokemon). It's tempting me to get Pokemon Battle Revolution (Wii), but... I'm still undecided.
Been trying to play .hack//G.U. Vol. 2 - Reminisce (PS2), but it's just too painful to read and listen to this story. You can't have it both ways in the sense that the game's supposed to be about real life people in a MMORPG and then throw in completely zany shit that isn't possible, no matter how far in the future you could go. The combat, while a bit repetitive, is really enjoyable to me, so it's bothering that I can't move on. So, since .hack is failing me, the only console action I'm getting in would be with Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (Gamecube, being played on the Wii). I never did beat the final boss and I loved the atmosphere of the game, so I've been getting into it again. Never really saw why a lot of people disliked it, even if bucket carrying is a bit of a nuisance. Most amazing jew boots |
I have been playing a lot of games recently, but for the most part it's been Oblivion for XBOX360. It's just as exciting as I thought it would be from the 10 minutes I played it on my PC before my CPU couldn't take anymore abuse from it. Plenty to do and amazing voice acting.
Next up has been DOA4. Hadn't bothered playing DOA4 online because I feel there is no point. Everyone knows what every character can do, so whatever you do, people have a move to counter it >_>. And then Tenchu Z, this is the second game in the long running Tenchu series that has been developed by SOFTWARE/K2. The weakass company that IMO has totally fucked the Tenchu series up. I don't like this game at all aside from the pretty costumes and whatnot. But there is little variety in stealth kills and well you can't really *do* anything without alerting someone >_>. The series should have stopped at Wrath of Heaven, Activisions last Tenchu game they developed. How ya doing, buddy? |
I was playing Pokemon Pearl until about 2 weeks ago when my interest in Super Paper Mario was rekindled. I'm almost to the end of the storyline and I really enjoy it. It's a bit on the easy side, I think, but still a lot of fun. I'm going to try and beat Flipside's Pit of 100 Trials before I beat Bleck though.
I'm also playing Paper Mario: TTYD. I would have played the original first, but I'm tired of waiting for it to go on the virtual console. ;_; Anyway, I'm not too far into it (just got Koops) but it's nice. Reminds me of one of my all-time favorite games, Super Mario RPG. I wish you could have more than one partner fight with you at the same time though. :/ Oh well. I still hope to acquire and complete all the Paper Mario games someday. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Tomb Raider Legend: Saw it for about $20, and was craving for some adventure games after I finished Two Thrones, so I decided to get this. Been playing for a few days, and pretty much beat it, now I'm just going through collecting medals and beating time trials. Awsome on the first playthrough.
Trauma Center: Second Opinion: Got is since Wii's launch, but never gotten too far in it, even though it's a pretty good game. Going back to it now in my recent trend of playing some of the games that I haven't beaten yet. I can't believe that the opening cut is giving me the hardest time with practically every operation. F-Zero GX: Another game that I haven't beaten yet. Only unlocked the diamond cup, got to chp 7, and only one of the AX characters unlocked. But damn, I can't seem to make any progress. Pikmin 2: Yet another game that I have yet to beat. For some reason, I can't seem to get into this game as much as other people do, but good game nonetheless. Kinda picking it up again and trying to make as much progress as possible before summer ends/Metroid Prime 3 comes out. Star Wars Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike: The last I-need-to-beat games on this list. I don't remember when I got this game, but I just remember that the missions weren't as good as Rogue Leader, and that I mostly got it for the multiplayer. Metroid Prime 2: Now, this game I had already beaten once. Like the original Prime, I felt that this game deserved more than one go, on a higher difficulty, and trying to collect all expansions/complete scan logs. What makes me sad is that I think I missed the floating light crystals early on ;_; Most amazing jew boots |
I've been playing Fallout and Fallout 2 for the Iron Man challenge on this board and one I'm running on another. Playing through without reloading is much more exciting, and survival is its own reward in a lot of ways.
Before I was playing Space Force: Rogue Universe even though it's a mediocre hunk of crap, but it's the only Space game of its kind so I have to keep myself busy. And before that, I was playing IL 2: Sturmovik, which is a great flight sim which I could never get shooting quite down for, and Armed Assault, which I still need to beat. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Currently playing Pokemon Pearl (as my Diamond cart is a bit....on the glitchy side) more now, due to the fact that I think I've figured out the IV 'Hidden Power' business, so I'm pumping out strategies like mad, hoping to create a good team.
Also playing Odin Sphere, desperately trying to catch up to a friend of mine, who's already on the last book, and I'm liking where my current character's storyline is going. I'm also trying to play more of it due to the fact that in a few weeks I wont have a chance to play it again, since I'll be so busy remodling my home. How ya doing, buddy? |
