Computer Specs Advice

I know that there like 1-Billion of these kinds of threads, but I guess that's because the people around here know their stuff.

I don't want to go to crazy with cost however I do want something that is high end. (I don't want to pay like $200 for an extra 128MB in a video card type of thing)

Here's what I've come up with. What do you guys think?

motherboard asus p5b
cpu e6300 Intel 775
ddr 512 667mhz (2 for 1 gig)
vista basic oem
WD 160gig SATA2
GeForce 8800GTS PCI-e Video Card

Total: $1035

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Take a look at this thread: http://www.gamingforce.org/forums/sh...ad.php?t=22468

I pieced together that exact system (without the cost of Vista) except with 2GB of RAM since it's dirt cheap these days. The extra GB of RAM will definitely make a difference with Vista.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

An E6300 is not something I'd call high end...it's a good budget chip (that's why I'm using it :P ), but I think the general consensus is that the E6600 is the best power/price ratio. All the Core 2 Duos are nice overclockers though (I've got mine up to 3.15GHz on stock voltage).

Agreed on the memory too. It's worth it to spring for two 1GB sticks in dual channel if you're running Vista.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
