Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner Soundtrack Discussion

Courtesy of Zanasea/KujaFFman at Squaremusic, full track listings for Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner's promotional soundtrack is now available. This 10 composer project has been highly anticipated, though, rather unfortunately, the album will not be for sale, which is a major disappointment, only available with preorders of the PSP game. Still, it looks incredibly promising, and I hope that someone is able to make a rip of it (please post about it here if that person is you!).

Note that track 1 is composed by Shinji Hosoe but arranged by Hitoshi Sakimoto! You can listen to 2 samples from each composer (except Ogata, since he worked only on one track) on the official website of the game:

http://www.playstation.jp/scej/title/js (Last section of the menu, サウンド "sound")

The order of the composers is: Shinji Hosoe, Hitoshi Sakimoto, Yasunori Mitsuda, Kenji Ito, Yoko Shimomura, Masaharu Iwata, Tsukasa Masuko, Yasuyuki Suzuki, Ayako Saso and Takahiro Ogata.

The sample which is the same for Hosoe and Sakimoto is the Theme of Jewel Summoner. Impressive.

I can't believe this soundtrack is not getting a separate, commercial release. This is probably the greatest collection of composers on one album in the history of the industry. I'm half tempted to pre-order the game so I can get the soundtrack.... even though I don't even have a PSP. There really isn't a specific composer I'm looking to hear from more than anyone else. With a cast like that, you just want to hear everyone's contribution.

Also, thanks for contributing the tracklist, Zanasea.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The fact is that the game is already out... It was released last month.

Those sample tracks are promising, but my lack of kanji-readin' precludes seeing who wrote 'em. Still, lots of reasons to be enthusiastic about this one; even though I'm not familiar with Saso, Masuko, or Suzuki, the presence of Hosoe, Sakimoto, Shimomura, and Ito is enough to get the ol' heart a-palpitating. It'd be spectuacular if they wound up doing variations and interpretations of each others' themes.

Speaking of which, what kind of game *is* Jewel Summoner, anyway? I imagine it involves Jewels or the Summoning thereof, but these titles are not always descriptive.

I was speaking idiomatically.

This definitely looks impressive. I see Super Sweep, Basiscape, Shimomura, Ito, and others. And unlike the several arrange albums that they've worked on in the past few years, this has all new compositions.

Let's just hope it doesn't turn out like Tobal No. 1.

oh, well, that sucks. Since most of the artists on this album are affiliated with Cocoebiz, is there a possibility that they might pick this up and offer it separately?

Heh, I liked Tobal No.1. I thought it had a pretty good score. The arrange album wasn't all that bad either.

I didn't mind Tobal No. 1 at all, and, perhaps above all, it demonstrated that Yasuhiro Kawakami (who also contributed to Mystic Quest), was a highly versatile artist. But, yeah, it had its flaws, no doubt, but was pretty remarkable from a historical and stylistic standpoint for its time, in my opinion.

However, if you'e talking about it turning out like Tobal No. 1 stylistically, don't worry there, as the samples reveal a large emphasis on acoustic arrangements; yeah, even Hosoe and Sakimoto's main theme. The quality also seems to be very high, according to the samples.

Cool

I think I found it:

I just ordered a copy, so hopefully it's the complete soundtrack.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I just received a copy of the soundtrack with the strategy guide, and it only contains three tracks. I'm not sure where this 45-track album is coming from; it's either another promotional soundtrack or hasn't been released yet.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

To have received that must have really sucked. I see CocoeBiz is also promoting such an album here. I wonder what gives? This project is rapidly beginning to piss me off.

Odin Sphere? No, this is a thread regarding the music of Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner. Unless there's some music I can't see on that site you linked to...
