Best News Site?

I used to be a big fan of Yahoo, I still like it as a search engine. Lately though, I've been very turned off by the headlines they have been giving the public. For instance... Dice Stacking Trick... Yahoo users share their losses and how they deal with it. So I'm interested in resetting my homepage, and deicded to go to the gamingforce members to see where you got your most reliable, interesting, and of course applicable news to you and your interests. Suggestions?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I use a few news sites.

bbc.co.uk/news - for the more serious side of the news
skysports.com - for everything sport related
digitalspy.co.uk - for all my entertainment needs
gamespot.co.uk - all the games news that I need
tv.com - for all news on TV shows on the other side of the pond

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I use almost exclusively The New York Times or BBC News. BBC has good international coverage, and the NY Times is great for New York-related stories.

Every time I load up CNN.com and look at their most popular stories, a little part of me dies inside.

When I want some further analysis, I use economist.com.*

*The Economist is a well-respected world wide British-based magazine.

The easiest way is to pick the most respected newspapers in each country or, for regional news, picking smaller, well-respected papers. Mine:

National:
The Wall Street Journal
The Washington Post (if you're cheap)

Regional:
Albuquerque Journal
Anchorage Daily News
Chicago Tribune
Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel
New Hampshire Union Leader
Orlando Sentinel
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Portland Press Herald
Saint Louis Post-Dispatch
Saint Paul Pioneer Press
The Arizona Republic
The Denver Post
The Fargo-Moorhead Forum
The Salt Lake Tribune
The San Diego Union-Tribune
The Seattle Times
The Wichita Eagle

International:
Cameroon Tribune
Die Zeit
Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
Il Giornale
Il Messaggero
Jornal Do Brasil
Kommersant
Le Messager
Milliyet
O Estadao De Sao Paulo
Rossiyskaya Gazeta
Sankei Shimbun
Svenska Dagbladet
Sydsvenska Dagbladet
The Australian
The Courier-Mail
The Daily Telegraph
The Times
Yomiuri Shimbun
Zaman

I tend to frequent cnn.com and http://www.voanews.com/english/portal.cfm

They're pretty good. That, and I listen to BBC radio a lot.

I would say www.bbc.co.uk/news for news, and www.bbc.co.uk/sport for sport.

www.digitalspy.co.uk for more or less everything else.

I have also been disappointed with Yahoo recently. I changed my homepage from Yahoo to the New York Times, which I highly suggest. The stupid headlines on Yahoo are a huge turn off, especially when I open Firefox and the headline is "OOOOO NEAT PEN TWIRLING TRICK!". Sigh.

I look at Google News probably more than anything, but you get a fairly small picture of what's going on and sometimes the site takes a while to update. Totally agree on Yahoo, I used to read their news section all the time. I can't stand Yahoo's portal anymore.

I also use The Arizona Daily Star, but just for local news.

I wish we had a relatively slantless news source. I understand why from a business standpoint, but I really wish the Associated Press would become a great Internet news portal.

I also read BBC News and digg. If you want something that is like digg but with a more traditional news site feel, there is Newsvine.

I am a news junkie, or more precisely, I am a NPR junkie. Naturally, my first choice in terms of the news site is NPR.org , and local station KJZZ.org. Since my local station doesn't have a all day schedules, I often uses the the site to catch up on some of the show that I missed in the day.
