Oh crap, windows and mac compatibility problem!

Ok, so I'm actually quite annoyed now. This is the first compatibility problem I've come across on my Mac. Before, I could play streaming Windows Media files perfectly from websites such as Gamespot or Cnet.com, sound and video supported. But for some strange reason, every time I open any WM file, it gives me an error message saying I don't have the right codecs on my mac. What's this all about? The video starts playing but there's no sound playback anymore. I tried reinstalling Windows Media Player 9 for mac and I've even downloaded some codec packs, but nothing worked... I really need Windows Media support on my Powerbook :-s

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

-MV

Double Post:
Update, VLC plays the files perfectly, but Windows Media Player 9 and Quictime don't play sound...
I must have deleted the sound codec for some reason, because it used to work... just a few days ago.

How ya doing, buddy?

Did you read what he said?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

You may have given yourself the best advice. I had streaming/QuickTime problems with audio and reinstalling codecs worked!

I was speaking idiomatically.
