Let's talk about OS X... on your PC.
A few patched ISOs of Apple's OS X Tiger have been floating around torrent sites for a while now. They let you install Tiger on non-Mac hardware and not in a virtualization/emulation application either. OS X will install directly on to your hard drive and run from there.
http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3612263/...E3_incl._PPF1_ I've used the ISO from that torrent to install and dual boot (!) Tiger and Windows XP on the same machine. The downside to this is that OS X is incredibly picky about the hardware you use. There are lists here. Keep in mind that they are not anywhere near complete. Links to a couple guides: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/in...#10.4.8_Guides http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.4.8 http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/in....4.8/Portables http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/in...0.4.8/Desktops My specs are: Intel Core2 Duo E6600 Intel D975XBX motherboard Corsair 2GB DDR2-800 Sapphire Radeon X1900XT 256MB Creative Sound Blaster Audigy4 Samsung 160GB SATA2 Logitech DiNovo keyboard/G5 mouse All of my hardware was recognized properly except the video and sound card. There are no official or 3rd party drivers for the Creative products. I'm also having a hard time trying to install the onboard SigmaTel drivers as well. :/ The ATI driver installed easier than in Windows XP :P This forum is full of 3rd party apps and drivers to make things work: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php? I really can't believe how stable this is. I've been able to do everything, so far, without a hitch (Parallels, Virtue, Photoshop) The nicest thing about the install is that it's FAST. Loads in under 30 seconds from POST to desktop. The downsides? Like I mentioned, not all hardware is compatible. You can't update your OS unless there's a specific 3rd party package released. Looks really interesting. Can't get the files to try it out myself, but amazing what is going on with all this the past year.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I made a video while GFF was down just showing how everything works all cool.
