Wink 24: The Game

I haven't bought a PS2 game in over a year now, but you can't help but be interested in a game based off of 24. Anyone bought this yet that can tell me if it's worth the money? I heard it was like a prequel to Season 1 which kinda makes sense since I know Nina Meyers and Kim are in it. True/false?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

So have you played it then or read up on it or what. Sounds pretty interesting, unless it's just about going around finding Jack some heroine.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

glad to hear it won't spoil anything for me, as i'm only eight episodes into season four. i'll at least have to give it a rent.

Did anybody get that preorder bonus with the game? I preordered it before it was announced, and when I asked the lady at the counter about it when I went to pick up my copy, she said she hadn't heard anything about it. Maybe it was online only.

Nah, I didn't get the pre-order bonus, but then again, I don't have a cell phone that supports the game, so it would be useless to me.

I can't believe that IGN gave the game a 4.2, that's nuts (LINK). The reader average right below the score shows that it's a pretty unbalanced score.

I'm not one of those guys who yells "durrr disregard anything IGN/Gamespot/1UP says they're sellouts and biased against Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo," but I would have to call into question this particular review.

The game is a lot of fun, and as a fan, it's doubly so. 24: The Game is how to handle a TV show license correctly.

How'd they give it a 4.2 when only one score was below that (given, it was gameplay, but if gameplay matters that much why even have the other categories)?

The demo was pretty fun, but the 3rd person camera was problematic. For those that played the demo, did they make any final adjustments that improved the gameplay? Or did it end up playing just like the demo?

Cause, after seeing that IGN score I'm kinda undecisive whether or not to purchase it now. And if the camera is still as bad as it was in the demo, then I think I'll just wait till this one drops to $20.

Yeah, I found the 4.2 to be pretty absurd as well. I haven't played that much of it yet, but I don't find anything glaringly wrong with it to get that low of a score. To me, it seemed as if the reviewer was scared of being labled a fanboy, so he purposely lowered the score so he wouldn't look that way.

I was thinking of picking this up, but not sure yet. How is the game set up? As in, 'chapters' of 1 hour each or what? Also does it have the ticking sound from the show because if it doesn't I probably wont get it.

I'll probably get it in a month or two when it's down to $20. I want to know the story, but I hear it's a bad game.

It is. Not 4.2 bad, but definitely very average. Story/production values rock though.

The game looked semi decent, average at best. However..its 24.

I recall on the season 4 bonus features ...there was info that it would cover the events after Season 2, feature Mandy and the guy we knew nothing about. It also said that we would learn about Chase coming to CTU, how Kim started working there...and what happened with Palmer and the virus.

I might pick it up, I love 24 and enjoy action oriented games.

Gamespot gave it a 6.2 (Link). I was actually hoping this game would be something like Indigo Prophecy, giving it that whole cinematic gameplay feel, during the game at least, but not in the cutscenes... If that's how they're placed.

I don't plan to buy it, but if any of my friends get it, i'll probably get it off of them.

I agree Chaotic, I think that Indigo Prophecy's gameplay system would've worked amazingly well with the 24 game. Interrogation, action scenes, multi-screen scenarios, it all fits pretty well since IP took a lot of cinematic inspiration from 24.

It's a complete sack of crap. The ONLY good thing about it is the presentation: sound, story, characters.

Which is great, but if the controls are HORRIBLE, the camera sucks, the driving sections are buggy and absolute crap, and the gameplay in general is generic and boring.. who cares about the other stuff?

I do agree that if it were some original title the gameplay would not be able to hold up in the gaming market of today. But just because it's 24 many fans of the show will play it just to get from cinematic to cinematic.

I'm about 3/4 the way through the game and the story so far is so good I find it hard to put the game down because I want to see what happens next. But if you're not a fan of 24, Freedom Fighters is a good alternative.

The game is okay, from what I've played so far, I'm only 2 hours in(actually 30mins). The game has good graphics for a PS2 game, and the presentation seems good, but it has horrible controls, the camera sucks(it's too close to the characters) and the gameplay is repetitive. I will play through the whole game, because I am interested on what will happen in the storyline, but it is a very "average" game.

I didnt find any problems in game.Being a big fan of 24, i can say that i am satisfied. It could not have been any better , i wasnt expecting extraordinary gameplay from Sony Cambridge studio anyway.
Thie previous titles had gameplay issues too.

Perhaps they didn't put much effort into making this game because only the fans of the show would buy it.
If it manages to be resonable I can live with that.

I can say is that I am a fan of the show and I would buy it.

I've already played about a 1/3 of the game, and it's not that bad. The controls are a little wonky, but it's not to the point of being unplayable or anything. And the game's story and music are top notch. I don't see why IGN would give it such a low score. Idiots.

I rented and beat it. Its easy to beat in a weekend (I think its maybe an 8 hour story.)

It.......has its problems.. the 4.2 at IGN is too low, I agreed with Gamespots score (which was about a 6.2 or something) more.

The game plays rather poorly, can become very frustrating at times (one level I had to evade the police, but no matter wtf I did the "Pursued" bar would not go down, even if there were no police anywhere near me.). I loved the Interrogation minigames though, they never felt the way IGN described them (which was broken and very awkward). In fact, someone should probably rip the voices from the interrogation levels and make a soundboard or something. Lots of Generic sayings you can prank with :O

The story was great, the music was great, Presentation was top notch. It's a good game, but, the actual "hey, I'm playing a game" part is a bit screwy.

And I hated the "Circuit Breaker" B.S. Half the time the puzzle was unsolvable, the game would intentionally make you get stuck.

Even though I'ma fan of the show, its not worth 50 bucks. Theres very little bonus features (theres movies...which you can watch on the 24: the Game, website. And you can get cheesy pictures and can view various in-game models.....thats it.), and its a short game to boot.

And, its funny that IGN gave it a 4.2, considering they hyped it up so much.

Where do people keep getting this $50 from? The game was only $40 when it came out, so if you paid more than that you got overcharged. Knowing me though, I probably would have paid $50 or more just to play this game.
