HDTV Help

I have a JVC 61" hi Definition 1080p tv.
http://www.avrev.com/equip/jvchd61z575/

I linked you to the exact TV i have. I do not have an issue for my TV but more of a question. My friend said that my TV will not work in 6 months because I have HD-ILA...is this true or false? I read about HD-ILA and it says nothing about failing but I would just like to know what he means and why did he even say that?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Your friend must be smoking something because I have a JVC 52 inch HD-ILA for 2+ years and it's working fine.

...unless your friend is talking about the lamp, then all you have to do is replace it. Depending on your viewing time the lamp would last for 1-2 years.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yeah, I have to second this. It looks like your friend took one of the negatives of a rear projection set and made a big deal out of it. Like BigCN said, your lamp will last about a year or two before you need to replace it. This is assuming, of course, that you're watching 8 hours of TV per day.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I bought my TV January alittle after the Christmas sales. Once you get your 360, Wii and HD-DVD essentials you just need to top the cake with a good quality TV.

So anyways it was bought after Christmas sales so I shouldn't have any problems anytime soon right?

Also out of curiosity how much would a "lamp" cost?

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

You shouldn't have any problems with your set, and if you want to be safe rather than sorry, check out its thread over on AVS. BTW, lamps are around $150 to $200 depending on manufacturer.

I was speaking idiomatically.

If it's anything like my 1080p HD-ILA, lamp replacement seems real easy too. You just open the two small panels at the sides.
