Formatting my computer
I wanna completely wipe out my computer... but
When I reboot and click F8 or F10 that doesn't exist... is there another way of doing it.... do I have to have the CDs/DVDs for it? Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() ^By Auro from the FFXII board... Thanks ^^ |
I'm assuming you want to reinstall Windows XP. During the initial setup, it will ask you if you want to format your hard drive.
(You'll need the XP disc.) ;P There's nowhere I can't reach. |
ARG shoot... on my new computer I just have to press F10 >.<
K thanks (forgot how that stuff works >.<) EDITING: But I wasn't given a CD... so now what? This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() ^By Auro from the FFXII board... Thanks ^^ |
Some fascist manufacturers make you purchase the OS disc separately.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Speaking of which, who is your computer manufacturer?
Also, when pressing f10, does it specifically ask you to insert a disc? Anyways, in many computers these days the manufacturers include a partition for restoring the operating system to the factory condition. Additionally, they also allow for creation of discs that do the same thing. A final option that you can try is retrieving the product key for your operating system (it might be on a sticker on the side of your computer; or you can find various utilities on the internet which can retrieve this key), and then downloading an iso of the exact same operating system you are using, and burning this to a disc. After burning to disc, you can us it to install, and when it asks for the product key, use the one that applied to your old OS. (which hopefully you had written down elsewhere) I was speaking idiomatically. |
Ah I see... well that's sweet I'm not at my computer right now but I highly doubt I left a sticker there hanging - just for the record anyway of finding out my key from within the computer?
Anywayz I bought my computer from Futureshop <.< What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() ^By Auro from the FFXII board... Thanks ^^ |
