Is MDG a good place to buy pre-assembled computers?
They are having some promotional sales on their Horizon XL, I was thinking of just buying that for my dad since his computer's busted two days ago. But looking at the technical specifications of that model, it seems that other than the Kingston DDR2 2G RAM, none of the hardwares had any detailed information about its manufacturer or its model number, which made me think that there might be some huge pitfalls in this deal...
http://www.mdg.ca/en/products/desktops/horizon/ However, cramming components together by buying them from NCIX or other local computer shops cost something similar if not more, I never bought a computer from MDG before, so I'd like you experts out there to give me a few thoughts on this deal. Thanks a lot. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Can't say I've bought from them, but preassembled computers are never worth it unless you're incompetent.
Buying parts from NCIX may be more expensive (probably mostly due to shipping, and especially if you buy only quality stuff), but at least you know what you're getting. Oh and it looks like their monitors are cheap fucking shit. Comes with preloaded crap. I'd say not worth it. If I was you I'd buy elsewhere (and do it yourself), and I'd go with NEC for monitors. They've got the best quality/customer service reviews of the LCD brands I've read. There's nowhere I can't reach. |

Thanks for your suggestion, I guess I'll just buy the components and install them by myself... it's more secure that way also.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
