I'm going for the high score here, AAA in first place for the 'Make Threads About Games Nobody Really Cares About Because They'll Usually End Up Being Shit' game! Until they unplug the machine and all my precious shoddy effort is wasted.

Rising Star Games has revealed that it's to publish another Bubble Bobble game for the Nintendo DS in Q1 2007.
Bubble Bobble Double Shot (see what they did) introduces a third platform-hopping bubble-popping character called Bubu to the traditional duo of Bub and Bob, and promises "a respectful return to the series' roots".

BUBU? Good to know they've forgotten about the OTHER new characters they created just for the first Bubble Bobble game on DS. A pink clone and some wanker wearing a helmet or something. Bubu seems to be orange!

you'll still find yourself platforming through compact levels brimming with secrets, spread across two screens, but now you'll also be using the right shoulder button to switch between Bub, Bob and Bubu, because certain enemies can only be taken down by certain characters.
This system is based on colours - and there will also be a new star bubble that lets you change the colour of enemies on-screen so your selected character can tackle them all.

Oh what, sounds like they've shoved a bit of Bust a Move/Puzzle Bobble gameplay in it. That could work. Or fail. Because it's the mystery of the dance!

What's more, Rising Star says the "continue" mechanic has been changed so that you're now asked to complete touch-based mini-games when you perish in order to carry on playing - like solving a puzzle, or tapping the screen quickly so escape from a rampaging monster.
On top of the single-player antics, which amount to 100 levels, there will also be co-operative multiplayer for up to three people.

You have to play stupid mini-games just to continue your game? That sounds like it'll make me roll my eyes and they'll get stuck in the back of my head. I wonder if the co-op will be off a single cartridge this time, like it should have been with Bubble Bobble Revolution. Look, some screens!
At least they've made the levels fit the screens now. No more scrolling crap. That and it doesn't seem to have that grainy smelly look to it. Pretty exciting stuff hey. :]
Jam it back in, in the dark.
