Rome

Anyone watch this "double" mini-series? Its on the second season now on HBO, which will be its last unfortunately due to cost issues.

The premiere was amazing and a great followup to the finale last year. Actors are brilliant and the guys that played Vorenus and Antony proved that yet again.

Oh and pretty much most of it is based on the real events.

It is up their with Band of Brothers quality.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Rome is right up there with Deadwood, The Sopranos, and Oz in the incredible HBO Drama category. Really good stuff.

I only watched the first episode of the Sopranos and really thought nothing much of it. It was like meh.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

True, but what does that have to do with anything. Usually when a pilot doesn't captivate a person they choose whether or not to watch further episodes.

Wow, I am impressed by the actor they got for the new older Octavian. He resembles the younger kid in voice and look pretty well.

Oh and Vorenus continues to own.

Yes, I like him too, I thought he had a great presence. And I <3 Pullo, as always.
Cersei Lannis... I mean, Atia, is great too, one of my favourite characters.

Does the second season cover the rise of Augustus?

Yes, it follows the rise of Octavian, as well as many other vibrant side-stories.

ARGH! Can't wait for next episode. This show is simply incredible. The new Octavian was a little weird at first, but they did manage to find someone with the same vocal tendencies and basic appearance. Vorenus and Pulo are simply the best duo on the small screen.

I hope Song of Ice & Fire gets the same treatment. Cersei would have to be a lot younger than Attia though.

I love Rome. Atia is easily one of the most interesting characters in any tv show, I just love a manipulating bitch like that, and it shows that women can have power too. I also like Marc Anthony more than Octavian (who was just an annoying arrogant brat since the beginning). Sure Anthony is a brute, arrogant and all, but the actor portrays him so damn good, and I like that he's so straightforward about everything.

I'm really pissed that this will be the last season, why do all the good shows get cancelled.

I believe it was only ever meant to be a two season series.

No, it was cut at two seasons because it costs so much to produce.

Edit: The actress who portrays Atia is 40, and Cersei is in her mid-thirties. She would fit just fine.

It was supposed to be a mini-series with one season (like Band of Brothers). But it was so popular they decided to shoot another season. They won't do anymore because of the costs.
I knew it wasn't supposed to be a long running series. Thanks.

Just saw the latest episode, the older Octavian is even a bigger twat than the younger version. Lousy actor, no charisma, stupid, STUPID hair cut. I rather liked his play in the senate though, to bad Cicero contacted Brutus about the stupid brat messing around. Also. Marc Anthony isn't nearly as goodlooking with a beard.
