Funniest Game Character(s)?

From the games you've played, who brings the humor in the game? o_o Funniest character I know is probably Norma from Tales of Legendia. :\ In my opinion, anyway.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I haven't played that. Why is he funny? Does he attack with jokes instead of weapons? =D Klaymen from The Neverhood / Skullmonkeys gets my vote! FOR PRESIDENT.

Oh! I can barely ever tell if characters are boys or girls in RPG's these days.

How ya doing, buddy?

yeah I have to admit, characters like Stan from Monkey island or just about anyone in Full throttle crack me up, the death in Maximo well I just found the whole concept funny, Elvis from God Hand, his dialogue was pretty good even considering how much of a stereotype he ended up being, the Helghast from killzone(PS2) when you used the grenade the way they yelled "SCATTER GRENADE" was amusing. Let's see Issun from Okami especially when he has visual contact with the "melons", I am probably forgetting a lot of funny characters, but let's see what the others add up.

Well, you really can't go by that.

Suikoden V has a character named Lyon, and it's a girl......

Oopsss

Forgot to answer the question....

I play mainly RPGS, and I have to say the funniest character from any of them would have to be.....

Captain Matthews from the Xenosaga series. He's in debt, he has a baseball cap that says: "WARNING! I'm a boozer. BANZAI! BANZAI!," he smokes, and he can be counted on calling everyone "morons." Doesn't sound like a funny guy, but he's predictable.

Crow from The Longest Journey (and to a lesser extent Dreamfall), Daxter from Jak and Daxter, and Nall from Lunar all made good comic relief sidekicks. They all had some pretty funny lines and got themselves into some humorous situations.

Oh, and I almost forgot, HK-47 from KOTOR deserves mention for sure. So many classic lines...I want to replay the game just to hear them again. It's not quite as funny in text, but here's an example:

Quote:
Player: "What are the regulations for?"
HK-47: "Oh, to distinguish the difference between Killer and Killee."
Player: "... Killee isn't a word."
HK-47: "Expletive: Damnit master! I'm an assassin droid, not a dictionary!"

The funniest characters in video games comes from the funniest game in history: Psychonauts. That game has more personality in the most incidental NPCs than every single main character + their emo girlfriend from every final fantasy game ever. The funniest among them is Boyd, an insane security guard with the mind of a conspiracy theorist. Nothing he says really makes any sense, but in the context of the game everything he says is hilarious. "I am the milkman. My milk is delicious. It's fortified with what the world wants... What the world deserves..."

Another funny character (not to the extent of anyone in Psychonauts) is Captain Qwark from the Ratchet & Clank series, although I can't talk about him without ruining the storyline for the first three games =o

Sam & Max (the Lucasarts one) also had some funny characters but they don't count since they have years of personality and development from the comics.

The least funny character I've seen in any game is Daxter. They were obviously trying to go for an annoying sidekick-type funny but the problem is the folks at naughty dog are about as good at creating humour as they are at crafting interesting personalities for a main character with a dark past and not making him come off as an angsty 11-year old (which is to say they're the most unfunny bastards on the planet), so he's just annoying.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Guybrush Threepwood, Murray the Talking Skull, the entire cast of the Monkey Island Series.

Why are we even still having this discussion?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD.

Deekin Scalesinger from the Neverwinter Night add ons.

"Deekin can be very innocent when he tries. That be part of his charm."
"Well, I have a weapon that can crash a mans skull into pulp before he even realizes he is dead. I've made corpses whose jaws still wag as they try to speak. Thats part of MY charm."
"Deekin once have Old Master who eat bad mushrooms and passes gas so bad it kills entire cave full of kobolds. Deekin sticks head in water bucket... only reason he alive today."
"I've cut my way through a hundred men, beathing in their own gore, and felt the slash of a hundred blades against my skin, yet never died."
"Old Master roll over on top of Deekin once while he is sleeping. Old Master be real heavy"
"Not much fazes you, does it?"
"Nope, not much."

----

"Deekin sees dead people."

I can't think of anything recently besides some of the easter eggs on the metal gear solid games that's made me lmao from just the strength of character development alone.

I can list plenty of games which have made me laugh for daring to be different at the time though Toejam and Earl, Earthworm Jim, Abes Exodus, Worms for it's near endless voice combinations and Team Buddies (Ninja class FTW) still make me crack a smile for their random insults and retorts even now

Edit: Added videos of last two for some kind of proof

All LucasArts adventure games have hilarious characters. And I'm talking about Day of the Tentacle, the Monkey Island series and Sam & Max. One quote I can easily remember from Bernard in DatT:

You know what they say: "To save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs."

Deep.

Someone already said Sam and Max, so I'm going with Zelos from Tales of Symphonia.

Lloyd: "Victory..."
Colette: "..belongs to..."
Sheena: "...the most..."
Zelos: "...Sexy! Dead Sexy!"

Regal: We shall protect this world,
Presea: With our own hands.
Zelos: Speaking of hands I think I'll put mine-
Sheena: UGH! idiot.

Zelos:...Oh, brother. Is your chest the only part of you that's well-endowed?
Sheena: You better shut up or I'll smack you!
Zelos: Don't say it after you've smacked me! Sheesh...

Klaymen seconded for TRUTH.

Also, I think that Scribe Shanky from Brave Fencer Musashi has to have one of the most outrageously gay voices of any videogame...ever.
