The Military.

I know we have some men and possibly women here at GFF serving in the Armed Forces.

So what I want to know is...

What country you are currently serving for, what particular branch, and MOS/Rating (your job). Have you ever seen action or deployment into a hostile area? So far what has the experience been like for you?

I recently re-enlisted into the United States Naval Reserve as an RP. There is an extremely high chance I will see duty in Iraq or Afghanistan and should we engage in a war with Iran, I will probably be deployed there as well.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'm enlisted with the United States Marine Corps but I'm not technically a Marine yet I'm in the Delayed Entry Program and I probably won't be sent to bootcamp until around September or October. I can't wait until I get to go I've been waiting my whole life for this. This may sound kinda weird but I really wanna go to Iraq and kick some insurgent ass it'll sure beat the hell outta going to College.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Hey pie, that's pretty awesome. When I graduate next year, I'm enlisting too. Are you headed for Parris Island or San Diego?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Oohrah! I'll be there next year or so.

Also, this is an interesting read about the military. They're lowering their standards to accomodate the weaksauce of a youth we have today. It's interesting because a lot of teenagers think they'll screw around in school and just join the military after graduating. Unfortunately, the military is specifically weeding those people out.

Fight for Canada, woo.

Part of the army, infantry, under Private II rank and pay (hehe). It's been about a year and a little over a half now I think.

I haven't really seen action other than through excersizes, I always want to take pictures when I go, but it never seems like I have time to, always busy and stuff, and it feels awkward =/.

Anywho, being part of the reserve force gives me a lot of time to work with a nother job. Only have to work one day a week part time, and one full weekend a month for an excersize. Once in awhile we have some really big excersizes that last like 10days too.

How ya doing, buddy?

Hey kids, nobody likes wannabe Marines.

I'm getting a Scholarship to go through Air Force ROTC. Should be good, I plan on flying, as pretty much everyone who joins the Air Force (and is smart enough to realize that only officers fly) wants to.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Be nice stealth. Don't want to scare the kiddies off from the military.

I'd love to fly as well... Just go the whole 6'2" thing and 20/400 vision going against me :/

Hmmm well I guess that's not such a terrible thing since the conduct of the US military is supposedly directly correlated to the values and standards of the U.S as a nation. Like my recruiter Sgt. Marquez said "The reason we have weight restrictions is because we don't want some fat shit Marine guarding an embassy and some fucking German or something walking over and being like HEY!! WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT?!?!"

There's nowhere I can't reach.

The DEP isn't shit. So don't think because you are a DEP that you will make it through training. My suggestion is that you get yourself into shape. Exceed their physical requirements before you go there so you can focus on the training, not how bad the smokings are.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I respect your opinion but I feel I already got what it takes to get through Bootcamp. I hate to toot my own horn but I do half marathons 13.1 miles so running is no problem for me, I go to the gym and pump some iron whenever I can and on top of that I do Judo/Jiu Jitsu and Karate training. So my goal is to basically go to Bootcamp and prove to myself and everyone else that I'm the best there was and ever will be and then go out and kill some insurgents.

As soon as I'm done with college it's straight into the US Airforce for me. I want to fly something/anything. And if I don't get to fly, I hope I'll get to do something fun with electronics/computers. On a side note: I intend to find out if the USAF really has a Stargate program....

If you are that fit, make sure you can do 70-100 pushups, 100-150 situps, and a 3 mile run in 30 minutes. I believe the Marines also test you on pull ups.

You have no idea what it is like over there do you? Geez kid. Either way, best of luck to you. Maybe one of these days we will serve together.

I can do 70 good pushups, at least 100 situps, I have ran a 3.7 mile cross country course in 26 minutes, and I can do 13 pull-ups (Sorry for lack of parallel structure). Of course, by next year, those numbers are going to increase.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The A3 does. I wasn't impressed with the M-16A2 that I've used in the past... the rifle just doesn't have the same sturdy feel to it that the old M-14s had.

Those aren't to shabby. I'd know what the requirements for the pull-ups are, so you might want to look into that :P Make sure you have some fun in training. There will be a lot of hard asses/dipshits there.

Just so you know, at my brother's graduation, they did a 4 mile run in 20 minutes. Pretty much in front of our eyes.

Also, half of boot camp is physical, the other half is mental. Going in with a pissy ass arrogant attitude is a sure way to get your DIs pissed at you and the rest of your platoon. The DI's job is to break you down both mentally and physically. Arrogant people have a harder fall when they fail.

I'm sure you two will make good Marines some day, don't get me wrong, but you aren't Marines just yet.
