Punch-Out!! is Apparently Coming, and not to the VC (Wii)

Quote:
“Punch-Out!!” has once again been trademarked through the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Nintendo filed the trademark on April 1, 2005 for service under “electronic game discs.” The status of the name is active as recent as January 11, 2007.

The game has not officially been confirmed. However, recent reports from IGN hinted at possible Nintendo franchises being reborn on Wii. If in fact a Punch-Out!! title is coming, the game could theoretically have been in development since its 2005 filing date.

Punch-Out!! is a highly characterized boxing title where you control Little Mac, a tiny but gutsy Bronx competitor, on his way to becoming champion of the World Video Boxing Association. The franchise has long been cherished by boxing and gaming enthusiasts for its simple, intuitive and challenging gameplay. If the title is confirmed, one must wonder whether Little Mac will make his much anticipated debut in Super Smash Brothers Brawl.
Well, to be honest, I'm nothing but PSYCHED about this. I doubt Nintendo would renew a patent for a "v. game disc" and NOT release it.

I just hope Mr. Sandman is a -tad- bit easier.

Here's to hoping for Online play as well.

Oh, and the original news source is here: N-Philes

Jam it back in, in the dark.

So is this being done with revamped graphics and tighter control than Wii Sports Boxing?

If so, then good. Another boxing game on the Wii would be awesome. Sadly, I never tried the original Punch-Out games...

Can't wait to see what they would do with Fight Night.

How ya doing, buddy?

Is this the same one that was one the Super Ninetendo called "Super Punch Out," where you fought fighters such as The Turkish Bull, Piston Hurricane, Gabby Jay, and that one fat dude that always stuck out his tongue when you punched him in the stomach? The last dude's on the game were Nick & Rick Bruiser. Anybody remember that game?

I hope it's that one. I set records on that shit. I beat the final boss in 27 seconds, I believe. Fun as fuck. Played for hours.

Yeah, that one and the NES one, 'Punch-Out!!', which was insanely racist but tolerated for it's cartoony-ness.

I beat Punch-Out!! for NES... but FUCK... Mr. Sandman was hella tough.

I HOPE it has better controls than the Wii Sports Boxing.

If not... ::bobofrowny::

I'm pretty excited about this coming out, though i found sandman somewhat easier then one hit knock out Super Macho Man, and mike tison a bit harder.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Super Macho Man was easy if you knew how to dodge him.

Mr. Dream/Mike Tyson... now that was an asskicking.

I'm curious as to whether or not they'll have the original characters or replace them.

I want a Wiimake of 'Nigga Stole My Bike'.
