Question about rewrapping opened package
I recently bought a video card at futureshop, as did my brother, and we wanted to attempt a cross-fire connection between the two. Anyway, we did it, and it worked pretty nicely, but since we bought the video cards because they were on sale, we are just using using them in the meantime so that we can save up for a dx10 compatible video card. So, while my brother has the one video card in his computer, I put the other one back in the box.
Long-story short, I want to sell this video card because I got it for about $150 bucks off and I want to save up some cash for my new video card, but the box packaging was already opened up. Is there any possible so that I can get this re-wrapped so that it looks like it was brand new or no; eg. the post office maybe? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I worked at Staples, and they had a heat sealing machine. Not sure if your Staples stores might have them, but I guess it's worth a shot.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Man, don't do that. Then you are gonna advertise it on eBay as "NEW IN BOX"... not cool.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

I agree with rocketdog. It's pretty messed up selling something as unopened when you ran it in your computer already. Also if you're selling it on ebay the person will probably notice something that you didn't do right and then give you bad feedback.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
No no, I'm at the university right now, so I'm going to have little ads on the bulleten boards around the campus, not on eBay. Ebay is too much of a hastle for me.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
Atleast now the people being defrauded can leave punches and not just negative feedback.

Haha, I'm not too worried about starting some shit with people. The thing runs fine. If they have a problem with it, they can talk to me about it personally. I'm putting "No Refunds" on the thing anyway, just in case they decide to purposelly break it so that they can screw me over.
Ah the joys of it all. FELIPE NO |
![]() Just sell at as barely used (that's what it soudns like). Admit that its used man. Don't be a d-bag about it! This just comes back to the quote "how would you like it?" I got a cell phone once, used it for 3 days, then decided I didn't like it. Resold it on eBay (listed as "barely used LIKE NEW") and I got $175 for it (compared to roughly $185 unused) and the customer was very happy. You can ad yours as "put in computer for like 3 hours to test crossfire". I'm sure you can still get a good amount of money for it. What is the card, btw? What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
It is a ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256 MB PCI-E. I woke up at 6 in the morning on boxing day just to buy it. Haha.
I'll try to be as honest as possible, but hey, if I re-wrap it, it'll give me a better opportunity to sell it to a consumer..... but now I'm begining to think that I'll get flamed because I'm the type of person that most people hate: the kind of person that says its new even though it isn't new. I still pretty much consider it new. Bah, whatever. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Just because you consider it new doesn't mean 99.95% will. Stop being an ass and sell it used. It's proper etiquette.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I agree. Just sell it barely used. Be in the other person's shoes. Be considerate. Remember, what goes around, comes around. I will guarantee you that you will get a good price for it. Besides, you bought it for wicked cheap on boxing day, you could sell for a little less than retail price.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Oh I already plan to. I think the store price is about 400 including taxes and all that and I'm selling it for 300.
But I suppose your right. The main reason why I want it wrapped is that I worry that most people won't like the fact that the box is already opened up. If the box is opened, they might not believe the details that I put in the ad. Do you honestly think that the majority of people won't care whether or not its wrapped and whether or not I put new/used, or are they going to be very picky about it? I'm asking because I haven't even sold anything this major since.... well maybe ever. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Dude, if you say it's been used I think most people are smart enough to understand that you took it out of the box.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
That thing isn't worth $400. It isn't even worth $300.
http://www.ncix.com/search/?q=X1950&...=0&p=1&s=1&a=0 Really sucks that you bought it for whatever ridiculous price at Future Shop. What brand of card is it? I have the same card in ATI brand and was thinking of selling for $200. Just hope some poor schmuck buys it from you, but don't be a lying dunce and sell it as brand new.
