Bad luck loves me, let me tell you.
So I bought this particular mp3 player back in January of 2004 and this morning when I was getting ready to do my usual morning bike ride I turned on the player and put in the headphones. Only the right channel worked. I cleaned the jack with rubbing alcohol (lol old school training) with no luck. I plugged the headphones into my DS, and both channels worked. Doing research on the issue led me to a HUGE forum thread over at Creative indicating that a headphone jack failure was common among these models and Zen Micro models. The thread was dated to late 2004 and early 2005, but there were at least 35+ pages on the issue.
As I highly doubt I'll probably be able to have the thing replaced straight from Creative, I'm baffled as to what to do with it now. Does anyone own this particular model that has experienced this problem? Are there other places I might be able to take it to for repair? Alternatively, does anyone have any information as to what I could do to self-repair it?
Damn things always break down on me when I need them the most. As usual, any help would be appreciated. It looks like this forum is going to love me for a while.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
