Robotech The Shadow Chronicles
I remeber a thread about this before the crash but not on since. Anyways the Robotech: The shadow Chronicles the sequel movie to the gateway anime for many of us in the U.S. is released next week. With the long lingering questions of what happened to Rick Hunter and Lisa Hayes finally answered. Reveiws so far have been generally positive, one of the major complaints being its length. But apparently if it sells well (it's already #1 on Amazon anime) it will be developed into a new series. check out the trailer and everything here http://www.robotech.com
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Sweet, I'll have to check this out. I am the big fan of Robotech:the Macross Saga, but I never really liked the other series. I'd really like to see the continuation of the original characters.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |

It's really nice to hear a responce in some aspect. I know what this series meant to me and a lot of others who came up in the eighties, and whether it be from a purist Macross point of view or from an American Robotech point of view its amazing to see the continuation of the stories that helped thrust me into the world of film making and visual story telling after almost twenty years. The second I get this I'll for sure seed the torrent for all those who are intrested.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
There is always a chance that they are going to botch it. It might be pretty hard to continue the same line of thinking twenty years later. The world has changed so much over the past 20 years. The people making this movie are bound to have totally different thoughts than the people who created Robotech in the 80's. The animation alone will be totally different from the series. They did a Gatchaman movie a few years ago. I am a big Battle of the Planets/Gatchaman fan, too. And the characters, costumes, animation, everything was totally different from the original.
I wonder if they are going to have Rick and Lisa age at all. I mean for us, it has been 20 years, how long has it been for the characters? It would be interesting to have a Rick in his late 30's early 40's. And it would go a long way in explaining all the new technology that they will, no doubt, throw at us in this movie. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
