Cleaning my notebook - air vents
My notebook has recently shut itself down two times while playing a graphical intense game. This is due to overheating. I can't check the temperature of the CPU, but the internal hard drive is around 58 degrees Celsius when I check it upon turning the thing on again. If the hard drive is 58 on its own, the CPU must be around... I don't even want to think about it.
So the overheating is caused by the dust gathering around the air vents. I have 3 vents. One on the side and three at the back.
Now the main part of this thread - there is still warranty on this for a few weeks (it's still something) and opening the thing will void my warranty, most likely. Is it possible to use a can of compressed air to clean the vents, but not open the notebook? Or will that make the dust go all around the internal part of the notebook and make components turn the dust into fire, turning the fire into a disaster, broken notebook and tears of a nerd?
How much risk would it be to open the thing? How hard is it to put it back together? What are the most common fuck-ups when opening a notebook (next to the static energy aspect)?
The thing itsels is a "Cybercom Vancouver", which is actually a Medion notebook, which is actually an eMachine.
How ya doing, buddy?
