Anyone know just how many characters or which ones will throw off burns with the Nero? It seems I always have problems with burning with Nero and long file names, going back to version 5, all the way up to version 7. It just doesn't seem consistent...

Check the images out below to see what I mean. Both tracks highlighted in the image are about the same length, but only one didn't get burnt correctly. Thing is, the verification shows it as okay, and it only takes renaming the file to get it to work. Call me confused. Luckily I guess, it's not as much an issue anymore, but still makes me scratch my head.

Don't use Nero when mastering ISO images, don't even use it when burning images (or doing both in one step).
mkisofs + ImgBurn is the best combination. At least mkisofs has proper ISO9960:1999 support which doesn't kill any characters in long filenames. The only problem is >4GB file support in UDF mode.
Nero has a lot of bugs, the filename length bug is not the only one.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I only use it to make DVD-R backups of my FLAC albums. Used to use it for ripping audio CDs as well, but I will move to EAC for that next time that comes up...

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Don't use DVD+R, my main drive I use to have didn't support it...

Time to upgrade hardware

@topic: I still use the latest version of Nero 6 (never switched 7 because of the DVD-video encoding bug that could kill your entire filesystem) if I have to use it. And I only have to if I want to burn really big files, like HD-movies (MPEG4-2 or AVC encoded) or truecrypt containers.

And I only use it in combination with the integrated image burner -> ImgBurn does the rest. Never did have any problem since using this kind of application setup. Even my DVD-standalone does detect the discs with a ISO9660:1999 filesystem - I had some serious problems with Nero concerning this...

I also think Nero is too overloaded. A burning program shouldn't be concerned with transcoding video data or audio data. But maybe thats just me

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
