So which system are you getting?
Just a little survey out of curiosity. As I mentioned before, I already have the PS3 reserved, since I'm more interested in seeing what it has to offer first, and then I'll be purchasing the Wii either by Christmas or a little bit afterwards (but only if I'm guaranteed a copy of Zelda on the same day). I just want to see what everyone else's plans are for Novemberocalypse.
PS: If you already own a 360, that counts as "getting 360 instead of either one." Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]()

If I get any consoles in the next 6 months, it'll most likely be a XBOX 360. However, it could be a Wii, if the price is right...
Can't say I care one way or the other, I normally wait until a console's end life before acquiring them. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I'm getting a Wii once the library improves a bit past the launch...Zelda isn't enough to get me to jump, but Smash Brothers and Prime 3 might just be enough. There's no sense in hurrying with more than enough quality PS2/DS games out this season.
PS3...I expect one of these days, it will have something that will make me cough up $600 I don't have to spare, but it won't be this Christmas season. Or the next. 2008 seems unlikely as well, though I suspect some publishers will have cobbled together some nice games by then. How ya doing, buddy?
I'm taking over this town...
I'm screaming for vengenace... I'm shouting at the devil... I'm not dead and I'm not for sale... Ain't lookin' for nothin' but a good time... |
I'm thinking about picking up the Wii, but only thinking about it. Among all the older gen consoles I already own I also have a 360. And I barely have any time to hop on that so I'm mostly messing around with a nintendo ds or psp. No that its a bad thing!
If I do get a Wii it will probably not happen until I see SSBB on the shelves or whenever I see a large window of free time (haha, yeah ok.) And why am I not interested in the PS3? Well besides its launch title line up its initial pricing just scares the crap out of me. Its kind of the same reason why I never bothered with 3DO. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
playstation-fanboy here.
getting the ps3 first then the Wii :P but both these plans are meant to take action after like 6-8 months after both consoles come out ![]() I was speaking idiomatically. |
Not getting either; not interested.
Because there's no "Will wait 6 months until there's games/newer models of the consoles" option. I don't really mind since I have an endless log of games which I need to complete, plus there's enough to keep me occupied on the PS2 and DS for a very long time. At most I'd consider a PS3 possibly around this time next year. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
You could use the "No money" option, since that techincally qualifies if you're waiting for a price drop on both systems. Of course, I probably should've included a "Not getting either, waiting for games to expand" option, but I felt that was just going to add a bunch of new uneccessary options.

The PS3 isn't out here until March '07, though. Wii hits in December here. I don't see the sense in buying a console's first version, because usually they're the ones which can't be modchipped. Usually they're the ones that have problems, because there's only so much you can get out of beta testing. It's better to wait until it's been out for awhile, and problems are encountered. Then they'll get on with fixing them, and possibly release an updated version of the console. THEN I'll get one. Most of all I'd rather wait for an array of games. There's only a couple of launch titles I'd bother with on each console, but that isn't going to keep me entertained for long. No, what I want to see is what both consoles have to offer post-launch. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I'll probably wait at least a year until I get my next system, there should be a decent amount of good games for them then.
Which will I get? Well, either, but haven't decided which yet, but I'm leaning towards the Wii. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Based on those choices, it's hard for me to pick. I'd say Wii first and PS3 later, but I can't say for certain that I'll pick it up later. And Later might be a LOT later, since I'm a freshman in College, I don't quite have the time nor the money to buy both anytime soon.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Well I already have a 360 and I've been saving up for a PS3 since E3 '05 so I've got more then enough for that, actually even enough for me to get a Wii two days after the PS3 launch, though I won't be getting any Wii games at launch though cept maybe Zelda, but that's only because I'll be busy playing Gears of War and the PS3 at that point and won't have too much time for the Wii right away. Plan is though that after Gears there's not much else coming out any time soon for the 360 so that's going to be PS3 & Wii time.
Elixer: I'd think that the PS3 that comes out there will probably be a version 2 model by then, so for you to get one at launch won't be as near as risky as getting one here at launch. As for waiting for more games, that's a good idea because gaming really is about the games, the system is just a means by which you play them... too bad more people didn't realize that. But of course if there's any staple series that you like for a console you know that thoes are always going to be on the same console unless some major shift happens, which won't be any time soon. Ex. Devil May Cry, MGS, Final Fantasy, etc. Will always be with Sony Mario, Shams Bros., Metroid, Zelda, etc. Will always be with Nintendo (obviously) Halo, BioWare games, Forza will always be with Microsoft (that company make godd game, SEIZE THEM!!!) (P.S. and you've got Gears of War coming out in two days, Boo Ya!!!) This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
The poll options are too lacking and/or specific. I would have voted for "Wii first, 360 later".
The Wii at launch ofcause, because using my common sense, Nintendo hasn't been known to launch beta hardware. The 360 sometime in 2007, when they release the quieter one with the new CPU. It will become my HD-DVD player too. Damn sweet. Isn't this the third "what next-gen will you..." thread? I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I chose the 'none, not interested' option.
As far as I've seen so far, none of the games offered interest me. The only exceptions are SSBB and that Pokémon Battle Stadium or whatever it's called. Until I am interested in more games, I will not be purchasing anything. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
Missed my chance for a Wii so I'll just get it later. My father and I are going to get a PS3 and split the cost of the system between us.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I'm not getting any of them just yet (not within the next month anyway), but I was planning on getting an Xbox 360 first and then Wii, with a slight possibility of the other way around depending on a few factors, and then the PS3 last. So I wasn't sure which option really fit, but I guess the "360 instead of either one" is moderately close so I picked that.
I really have no idea when I'll be getting any of them though, all depends on how the prices/games/features evolve over time. FELIPE NO

Unfortunately I don't the $600 to buy a PS3 (or $1500 if I wanted it from eBay).
If anything, I'll probably get an XB360 after its first price drop, like I did with its predecessor. Plus the only PS3 game I want--MGS4--will probably be ported to the system sooner or later anyway. The Wii I'll get after Metroid 3 drops. I loves me some Metroid. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
If I had money, I'd buy a x360 and maybe a Wii. I'm totally not interested in PS3, especially first run defects.

Asked for a Christmas Wii, but gamewise I'm in no rush because the DS is fine for me until Brawl and Galaxy come out.

I already have a 360.
Getting a Wii probably for Christmas, and then i'll have to see what Sony does in the coming years. I'm not willing to spend 600 bucks on a console just to play Metal Gear Solid 4, so there's gonna have to be a lot of other stuff I really want to play to warrant a purchase. Until then, i'll have the Wii and the 360 to keep me entertained. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |

I own an Xbox 360 and I am undecided on whether to get a Wii at launch. I had my reservations when I first bought my Xbox 360 having not owned the original Xbox but boy am I glad I did; it just keeps getting better and better.
Quite likely I will wait for both the PS3 and the Wii to be on the market (i.e March in Europe) and decide then to as which system I will choose. Personally I think having all 3 would be pointless as I'd probably play only on 2 of them leaving the other to gather dust, I'm not so much of a gamer as I used to be either. I'm not forking over for one of them before the price comes down. This is the way I've always worked my console purchases; I didn't buy an NES until 1991, had no SNES until 1997, was PS1-less until 2000, and didn't board the PS2 boat 'til 2004.
Usually I'll just buy one or two games that interest me and mooch off of a friend or family member that has a new system instead, and then buy when the system and its flagship games are more affordable. This is doubly important this time around, when the systems are much more expensive generally speaking. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
By the time I buy the systems, I'll be gainfully employed, and most likely making quite good money. I'm gonna probably save up and just buy all three or some junk. If I were to pass on any of them, it'd be the 360. But there are some games for it I wanna try, still (Dead Rising, future Splinter Cells, etc).
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
Hey, maybe you should try that thing Chie was talking about.

I'm not so sure I'll be getting either of them at launch. There just aren't enough launch titles that warrant the pricetag of the console, especially when it concerns the PS3. When the times comes though, I will be getting a Wii first, regardless, whether it's at launch or down the road. I probably won't be getting a PS3 until around the time that MGS4 comes out.
I probably will never get a 360. FELIPE NO |
Ok, so there're other games that I want for the system (Chopin's Bell, Blue Dragon, etc.), but IDOLM@STER is the only definite purchase. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
