External Subdomains
So I have my VPS (WHM/CPanel), but I want to use some other hosting of mine as a subdomain of a domain I'm hosting on my VPS.
As I understood it (and had been doing so at dreamhost for ages) all I needed to do was add a DNS A record of the domain pointing to the IP of the other hosting, and then in that other hosting (cPanel) just doing the "addon domain" thing. This indeed worked fine for me at dreamhost, though it doesn't on my new VPS ;_; Here's what I have in WHM, under the DNS zone I created for it: ![]() lol didn't know if serial number was sensitive info After that, I go to the other hosting's cPanel and do the addon domain, though I get this:
![]() I pretty much am a newbie at this particular stuff. I'm slightly accustomed to cPanel (only slightly, my main hosting was dreamhost, and they use their own queer unique panel. though it worked), and this new VPS is the first time I've used WHM. Put basically, I moved off dreamhost to this VPS, though I want to keep some of my many subdomains I had at dreamhost, still hosted there. I have a couple of hosting accounts I own elsewhere setup as subdomains also, and the move has broken these. Jam it back in, in the dark.
