Rules & Info thread analysis

RE: http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/ge...-exchange.html

I need a little feedback from you guys. I've been thinking that this thread needs an overhaul, but I want to know what you think. Most importantly, I want to know how useful it is in the info aspect. I think it's a great thread to use as a one-stop help center. However, people still tend to create new threads to ask for help. I'd like to scold them, etc., but I can't help thinking that perhaps my method is wrong. I'm not sure. Also, on another important aspect, this thread might need a lot more info added to the first post.

Please vote in the poll and let me know everything that's on your mind about the sticky thread.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I honestly like the way it's setup right now. Otherwise, you'll have tons of "who composed this?" and "where does this track play?" type threads coming out of the woodwork. For more complex questions it'd probably be ok to create it's own thread, but for most things, the one thread we have should be more than adequate.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yeah. For the simple questions, the ID thread should be fine. But, I know I've created separate threads in the past when trying to hunt down composers. I think you have a better chance of people seeing it that way. Most people (I would imagine) don't check the ID thread that often.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
Check out my original music at my Soundcloud page!

Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012):

SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

Ouch, I clicked in the wrong answer. I think that it would be better to place each question in a different thread as this can incentivate more people to answer if it's about something they know well. Placing all the questions in the same thread makes that the questions will be answered always by the same people, and they can't know everything.

Unless the mods create a subforum under General Game Music Discussion specifically for that, I don't think I'd like that at all. Allowing a new thread for any and every question would make the main forum look messy, convoluted and unorganized, in my opinion.

I was speaking idiomatically.

The only problem is that some people end up creating threads anyway, because they don't read the sticky thread. Though I guess I'll just be more aggressive about closing those threads down and redirecting the poster to the sticky thread. I kinda like being a hardass at times.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
