Coffee Addicts' Hangout

Herein you discuss your preferences, quirks, habits, and random camaraderie pertaining to the most delicious and stimulating of substances known to man - coffee.

I like to sip on a small cup of extremely hot, sweet, and rich coffee early in the morning before the chaos of the day ensues. I find it calming and invigorating at the same time. Helps me clear my head and focus on the tasks at hand.
How do you like yours?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I like a cup or two in the morning before school, if time permits. My mom has one of those fancy coffee maker machine things, so the coffee tastes terrific by itself, and I don't normally have to put too much cream or sugar in.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I don't know why I drink coffee. It doesn't seem to perk me up at all, the taste is nothing special, and it even gives me a stomachache. Yet, almost every morning, I have a cup.

I always put plenty of sugar and sweetener in it. And I love vending machine cappuccinos for some reason, but I guess that's a whole new topic altogether.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I really think that I drink cream and sugar* with my coffee.
Seriously, my dad tells me I don't really like coffee, because I do everything possible to make it taste less like coffee and more like...err...something else. Actually, for a long time my coffee acted as a low-cal stand in for dessert, which explains why I like it so sweet. Nevertheless, after I started drinking real coffee, I couldn't eat the Haagen-Daaz coffee ice cream that I had previously been in love with .

So yeah... in a regular 8oz cup I usually have about a shotglass-full of cream/half&half and two or three packets of splenda. Also, I love 'Mexican' coffee -- which is brewing the coffee with a stick of cinnamon broken up in the grounds. It adds a wonderful overtone to any blend.

I'm a die hard Dunkie Junkie. I live for Dunkin Donuts coffee, like most in our region.

When I order from there, I usually order a cup light with 3 equals. So yea. Light and sweet.

But here at home, I prefer my French press since it comes out nice and strong, with little added.

But yea - I'll down 2-3 cups before 10am. I kind of need it to function these days.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I'm trying to cut down. I usually have a couple cups at work, and a mochaccino or two each day at school. That's not a lot to some, but it's the most I've ever routinely drank.

However, caffiene is a diuretic and isn't always healthy in large doses. I've been allowing myself a cup if I'm really tired and need the perk, but if I'm reasonably energized, I've switched to bottled water instead. Gotta flush the kidneys with something more beneficial, you know.

Plus, I need to keep a loose eye on my blood sugar. I'm not bad, like people who need insulin pumps or have to dose themselves with shots if they eat a Saltine cracker, but if I eat too many sweets at once, it does take a little longer than normal for my blood sugar to stabilize. Since a lot of gourmet coffees are sweetened, and I can't tolerate the flavor of Sweet & Low or Splenda, my only remaining choice is less coffee.

To be fair to myself, I've also scaled back the amount of carbonated beverages I drink.

I like coffee, but I could be drinking something better for me more often.

How ya doing, buddy?

Ill drink the ocassional cup in the morning if Im having a large breakfast, but rarely do I just have a cup during the day for no reason.

I prefer it black with nothing added when I do have it. Sweet coffee seems to defeat the purpose unless its a frozen coffee type beverage (think Starbucks).

Lolr, I find myself in the same situation. Coffée doesn't do anything special to me. My parents just make it for themselves, and they offer me a cup. So I would always refuse, but now I just drink it. I'm cut back down though, too much is bad for the bladder stretcher.

Coffee was something I just could not get into, I tried, but failed. The closest thing to coffee I drink is cappuccino. One of my cousins will go nuts for Tim Hortons coffee

I work at starbucks so yeah, coffee ~

I don't mind normal coffee at work, but it depends on the kind. I have a bunch at home, but i usually prefer tea, but i'll drink coffee if my parents want some.

I have drinks with espresso a lot at work, but usually soymilk lattes or something, not plain espresso or cappuccinos etc.

Also i get a free lb of coffee or box of tea a week so yeah if you guys want some come visit ~ ~ ~

Ive found black coffee at Starbucks to be rather strong.

The free tea sounds nice though.

My dad *hates* Starbucks coffee because it's so strong. My mom and I are personally fans...and my roommate's sister has a roommate that works at Starbucks, so they have had an abundance of free coffee for the last year and a half.

I probably should apply for a Starbucks job...

Been on two to three cups daily for the last eight months or so; only real stuff; Colombian, Kenyan, Brazilian, I don't care. I'm a plunger. I like espressos as well as the usual long whites.

I don't drink coffee as much as I used to, but when I do it has to be Nescafe; I discovered the reason I used to hate coffee even as a teenager was because my mother always bought Kenco. I take two sugars and a spot of milk. If I feel like treating myself then I'll occasionally have a moccha, but only when I'm out with friends.

I like lattes. Depending on where I get it from will decide how it's made. I'm a fan of the Dunkin Doughnuts "holiday" lattes. Last year they had a caramel creme' latte that was just heaven. This year they have a great gingerbread one that's perfect without sugar.

Otherwise, I'll stick to a skinny latte. Skim milk and a few packets of splenda.

I also like a regular cup of french vanilla, usually 1 cream and a couple packets of splenda.

I prefer my coffee almost disgustingly strong, black of course. I usually have about two cups in the morning, and during the rest of the day Ienjoy a few lattes.

The problem is that Japanese coffee simply sucks. It`s weak as hell (most of the time you can even just look through it, how badly can you screw it up?), and the best coffee here can be found at Starbucks, and even then its not strong enough so I usually have a few extra espresso shots.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

When I was attending college, I'd always sip on a thermas of about 2 cups of coffee on the bus into the city. I did that for a few months and realized that I was somewhat addicted, not to mention that I was also smoking cigarettes at the time, so the two had a pretty harmonious time together. We always buy these fancy blends like "Pumpkin Spice" or "Caramel Chocolate" which are pretty damn good. In any case, I don't mind my coffee black. But I love plopping some whipped cream into my coffee. It takes care of everything dairy-extra that the cup needs. Plus, it cools it down, and I can drink it doing a kind of -still cold whipped cream, some hot coffee- and get like a sweet-bitter flow of substance going.

I don't really like adding sugar or creams or anything, ironically. Coffee gives me a decent dose of focus.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I'm trying to leave coffee. Yes, trust me. I used to drink 1 cup for breakfats, 1 during the morning, 1 after mealing ('cos I don't want my boss sees me falling asleep in front of the PC), 1 for afternoon snack and one more finally before going to bed (yes, caffeine doesn't have any effect on me )

Although I'm leaving caffeine, sometimes I like dropping myself by some starbucks, just to remember old times :P

I really don't like coffee, but on the rare occasion... VERY rare occasion, I will have a cup. When I do, then its LOTS of sugar and LOTS of milk.

Otherwise, I have ice cappuccinos once in a blue moon.

I probably couldn't live without coffee, I used to drink a lot before starting the university, but once I started Architecture... Yeah, you can probably figure it out, each two weeks or so I have to spend 2 or 3 days working nonstop like a machine powered by massive amounts of coffee xD

However, I have noticed that it doesn't help me stay awake anymore... I guess it's sort of a placebo for me or something, or I just like the taste so much that I don't mind.

Although I prefer to drink black Colombian coffee, every once in a while I crave a vanilla latte or a mokachino.

Slightly Off topic?: Oh, and for those out there that drink coffee to stay awake and have become "immune" to its effects, I found a real nasty mix that could probably wake up the dead xD : Mix black coffee with a can of Red Bull and some Coca Cola, don't add sugar. (Yeah, it tastes horribly and if not drunk in one gulp it may cause you to throw up due to its bitter, nasty taste, but like I said, it's the best thing for staying awake when coffee doesn't cut it anymore.)

How ya doing, buddy?

This is a great article by Malcolm Gladwel of the New Yorker on coffee and all its joys: http://www.gladwell.com/2001/2001_07_30_a_java.htm

Friends brought me a full bag of Jamaican Blue Mountain when they came back from holidays...so I'm in heaven at the moment. I'm addicted to coffee, I'm not ashamed to admit it. I like it with a teeny tiny drop of milk and 1 sugar and drink it as often as I can.

As far as coffee goes I just make a pot that fits in this one jug I have and take it to work. though out the day I slowly drink that down. It tends to last me the wrong 8 hours while at work. Only problem is im then wired for the rest of thd ay and can't get to sleep untill late.

I have a fondness for espresso, but the ambience needs to be right. There is this place in Montreal I forget the name of, and during the day it's full of hipsters but early in the morning it's full of grumpy elderly Italian men reading newspapers grumpily and playing chess grumpily and exchanging grumpy gossip, and espresso is perfect there.

Otherwise, Turkish coffee is dark and sweet and sublime, and I love it with a bit of cardamom added.

Malaysian coffee is where its at.

There's this really good brand called Kopiko which is like all in one coffee where theres creamer, suger and coffee all in one packet. So if you're in a hurry; its the perfect drink.

And even if you're not its still really really good.

FOLGERS SUCKS!!!! I just drink it cuz its cheap.
