Program on floppy disk doesn't work after copying from floppy to harddrive

I have a program that I need for my math class on a floppy (it is a dos-based program) and every time I copy it onto the harddrive, I open up the .exe, and when it says press enter to continue, it exits (obviously, when I run it from the floppy, it works). Is there any way to get it working without the floppy?

Thanks.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Try this:

Open up a copy of command prompt.

Drag the file (the .exe) into the command prompt. It should show the program itself listed on the next line.

Push enter and see if it still closes immediately or runs the program.

It didn't work.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Are there any other files on the floppy that go with the program, particularly anything ending in .dll? It may be that the program is scanning whatever current directory it's sitting in (on the HDD) for a supporting file it needs.

If so, create a new folder on your hard drive and copy ALL the files in the floppy over to the new folder, preserving the directory structure.

Let us know how that turns out.

They should have called the show "Castanza."

are you trying to run it from the windows interface (i.e. double clicking the icon), or are you running it from the command prompt?

for that matter, what is your operating system?

I was speaking idiomatically.

I got it working. There was a hidden file in the folder that I didn't know about.

I just have one more problem- whenever I enter the graphing mode, the program goes to fullscreen dos mode and I cannot put it in windowed mode no matter what I try. Is there any way to transform the full screen mode into windowed mode? Do you know what is possibly going on here? I need to put it in windowed mode because that is the only way I can get a screenshot of what I did in the program (I have tried numerous programs, and they can't take fullscreen dos screenshots, even though I did exactly what they said). (also, this happens when I run it from the floppy)

How ya doing, buddy?

Alt + Enter should switch between fullscreen and windowed mode.

Oh, I forgot to mention that. Alt + Enter acts like Alt + Tab for some reason (i.e. it minimizes the window).

Jam it back in, in the dark.
