Am I the only one for whom the mp3-tags won't play songs with commas or apostrophes? If not, why isn't anyone else editing these things out of filenames?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.  |

The link has been fixed. As for the punctuated URL's, they've wreaked havoc with the streaming plugin since time immemorial--that's why both methods are available.

I just broke that link (and all the other ones) by moving the songs to the voting directory where they should be.
 Commas in filenames don't mess up the MP3 player for me, but apostrophes certainly do. It'll work if you replace each ' in the URL with %27. I actually have to do that change with the song links at STC because the [url] tags there automatically remove apostrophes. Also changed the album name of the GS3 track to the English release name of the game. FELIPE NO  |

Advance Wars Dual Strike (Game Rip) - Jake's Theme: I wasn't too excited about this. Muddled sound quality combined with average rockin'. The sound elements needed to be more distinctive.
beatmaniaIIDX 14 GOLD ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACKS - Reflection Into the EDEN: I'll confess, I don't get the bit of hype that surrounded this track. I mean, it's not horrible but it didn't make me sit up and marvel either. To me, it feels like good background filler but not a whole lot more. Dark Chronicle Original Sound Tracks - Fish Race!!: Can this possibly be the shortest nomination we've had? It's cute, though lacking in a lot of substance that would be present if it had time to develop. MIDI Power Pro 7 ~ Gradius - Oceanus: Not too bad. There's plenty of variation and rarely a dull moment. I'd honestly expect no less from a Konami team. (It's still no "Fantastic Powers" or "Quiero Voar" though.) Gyakuten Saiban 3 (DS rip) - Toranosuke Shibakuzou ~ Swingin' Zenitora: For a PW game, this is actually rather light-hearted. I'd probably enjoy this in-game for a while, until the plot confused me and I was forced to hear it for two hours while I tried to figure out what ass-backwards logic the programmers intended me to use. Relentless Twinsen's Adventure (Red Book Audio) - Hamalayi Mountains: As I listened through, I hoped that this one would aspire toward epicness, as the progression seemed to be leaning that way. Instead, it meandered about and ended on the same middle-of-the-road tone with which it had begun. A lot of the parts between were too off-key and chaotic for me. Snowboard Kids 2 (Game Rip) - Linda's Castle: This is nice and synthy, and fun! Amidst a lot of lackluster nominations, this is quite refreshing. I think the melody could've been stronger in some places but it's still memorable. Tourist Trophy ORIGINAL GAME SOUNDTRACK - CALIFORNIA WIND: My nomination rounds out this week. I immediately fell in love with this track the first time I heard it a few months ago. I find this one particularly enjoyable because it doesn't rely upon heavy gimmicks to be great. Plus, the warm, relaxed mood helps it go down extra smooth. The section from 1:30-1:45 (and again at 2:50-3:05) is 100% love. The first post has been updated again. Lord only knows why the songs went into a different directory or some crafty soul tried to disguise Phoenix Wright with moon language, but it's fixed now. The streaming player works fine for me; give a shout if there are add'l problems.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Advance Wars Dual Strike (Game Rip) - Jake's Theme It's made of the same basic building blocks as the other Advance Wars tracks I've heard, but it's less inticate and harmonious, with a melody that's not as strong or strongly presented. Still, not half bad, and like all Advance Wars tracks it grows on you.
beatmaniaIIDX 14 GOLD ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACKS - Reflection Into the EDEN The odd instrument choices are the elements that make this track stand out from the mass of other electro-funk tunes, but it's not enough. The usual genre tricks still fail to impress, even combined as they are with piano and bagpipe(!). Dark Chronicle Original Sound Tracks - Fish Race!! Cute, but it feels like it's over before it really began. Some interesting ideas warrant more development than they're given. Phoenix Wright - Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations (Game Rip) - Toranosuke Shibakuzou ~ Swingin' Zenitora I think that Phoenix Wright tracks have officially fallen into the "too popular" quagmire and shouldn't be allowed any more. That said, this track is a darn sight stronger than the ones that showed up in SoTW and the BCC before in that it's not simplistic or hyper-repetitive. MIDI Power Pro 7 ~ Gradius - Oceanus A promising, percussive start that doesn't fully deliver--I was hoping the song would go somewhere fascinating and original, but it became mired in a repetitive flurry of electronics. Relentless Twinsen's Adventure (Red Book Audio) - Hamalayi Mountains I was super-impressed by the song from this game that appeared in the BSC, so there were high hopes for this track. It turned out to be a decent, if sparse, track, but nowhere near the home run I was hoping for. Snowboard Kids 2 (Game Rip) - Linda's Castle Do people named Linda even have castles? That quibble aside, this tune is a nice synthy treat that manages to be quite catchy and melodic. A pleasant surprise. Tourist Trophy ORIGINAL GAME SOUNDTRACK - CALIFORNIA WIND The sound design of this track reminded me a bit of Advance Wars, and I hoped that it might be of the same cloth. Ultimately, though, it's all about the acoustic guitar melody, which is nice if not especially memorable. A very mediocre week. Jake's Theme: Wall of sound, next...
Reflection Into the EDEN: Nice use of piano and mix of instruments. Nice surprise those interesting effects. Certainly a song I'd want in my library. Oceanus: This is totally what I wanted to hear, I love it. Toranosuke Shibakuzou ~ Swingin' Zenitora: Cute song, but that's it. Hamalayi Mountains: Weird song, I don't feel sad or happy, just amazed of the creative chords used here. Linda's Castle: Simple music, nothing too special here. Reminds me of Anime. CALIFORNIA WIND: Nice piece of music, but I got the feeling it was a terrible mix melody-wise. Difficult melody. Pretty good week featuring two excellent tracks I was unfamiliar with which I actually ended up keeping. California Wind has that guitar noodling which I'm an absolute sucker for. Reflection Into The EDEN is a more melodically pleasing piece especially with the bagpipes in the end. Oceanus is my nom...I decided to give the jazzin' a rest for now and go with a heavy percussive piece with enough of a tune to keep it from being ambient. I love the steel drums at 2:00.
