Watches: Analog or Digital?
Sup guys. I know this is probably a pretty boring question, but it's something I've been curious about.
I just replaced my watch not too long ago (Timex <3) and I got an analog because I love the way they look. The faces on most of the digital ones I see are generally unappealing and I can't see myself getting one. Usually I get one that's analog with a little digital strip near the middle that displays the time/seconds/etc. So I was wondering, what kind of watches do you guys wear and why? Do you have any sort of preferrence or do you just get whatever looks pretty? lol smilie in the poll Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() #654: Braixen |
I love digital. I don't care about design as much as I care about technology. A watch that does a lot and is digital is my favorite.

Fack, I meant to pick "Analog", but selected the one without a watch by accident, oh well.
I used to wear a digital until water destroyed it. I have an analog one now. My dad got me a nice Esquire watch randomly one day, quite nice. ![]() This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() oh my gawddd

It depends, really. I have a leaning towards digital watches due to them being somewhat easier to read occasionally. But that's only if compared to those analogue watches that either put the numbers as Roman numerals or only have numbers at 12, 3, 6, and 9.. in Roman numerals, no less. I've also seen ones that display no numbers at all.
I don't have much of a problem against Roman numerals, but it's just uncomfortable for me, especially if I have to explain what time it actually is to those who don't understand them. I would probably never go for those. But if you gave me a "conventional" analogue watch vs. a normal digital one I would probably pick the analogue one. A combination would be very nice though. But, nowadays, I rarely (if ever) wear a watch. I should, though, as fumbling around in my pockets for my handphone everytime someone asks me the time is not exactly fun. How ya doing, buddy? |
I love digital because the hands on analog confuse me

I wear both. Actually I have a small collection of watches now... They're becoming as much a fashion piece as a timepiece for me now.
The two watches I wear the most would be a cheap "Acqua" analog watch with a black face and white arms/numbers... and a $10 Casio digital watch which I wear at work because it's very thin so it won't get caught on things - and hey, for $10, who cares if I destroy it by accident? I wear a sundial.

My watch has style and class. It actually has 3 analog clocks and a digital one all on the face. Though I never sit around and read the analog clocks.
It's a Citizen Skyhawk if anyone is interested in looking at it. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
I wear a hourglass. No seriously, I mostly prefer Analog because aside from 3 digital watches, I've gotten used to the hands moving around. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Analog. It's a Timex, Expedition. I felt bad having a cheap watch until I learned that in fact the President of the United States wears a Timex as well. I prefer analog because generally digital watches are real ugly.
There's nowhere I can't reach.

I have a huge Casio digital watch.
I used to have an analog watch, but I managed to break it. This baby is almost TOO durable, as I've smacked it into damn near everything. It's also solar-powered and sets itself with the US Atomic Clock. That, and it looks really techy and cool, like what Robocop would wear if he needed a watch. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
It takes me too long to read an analog watch. Digital all the way.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Meh, I don't normally wear a watch, but when I do, I prefer analog. I have a wierd hatred for digital numbers (their block-like structure infuriates me), and I like the look of an analog design better anyways.

DIGITAL please. And in 24 hour time too!

I love analogue chronograph watches. Digital watches jut seem tacky to me, unless they're the fancy hybrid ones made by Seiko, Citizen or Tissot. I would really like an automatic Fortis watch, though god knows when i'd be able to afford it. Something like this:

I used to wear a Relic brand (ironic? ^^) analog watch, but it seems to have gone missing. Just as well, since the clasp on it was in really bad shape after just 5 years. I might pick up a cheaper Seiko to replace it, since they look really nice, plus my dad's used one for over 20 years with no problems besides the occasional battery replacement.
I wouldn't mind buying a digital watch, but none of them really seem to look nice. Even the expensive ones seem to be big black and blue plastic blobs with blocky LCD letters. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I prefer analog watches for the most part. All the clocks I own are analog except for my alarm clock, which has always been digital.

![]() Good ol' Casio Digital Casual Classic. What can I say, it's a, well...classic. Functional, durable, inconspicuous...everything I could want from a timepiece. The clasp also has a very satisfying click, which makes it ideal to play with when I'm bored. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I have a nice analog wind up replica military watch that Americans used in WWII...but I never wear it. The only kind of watch I'd wear would be a pocket watch, just so I can lean back against a wall and spin it around on its chain. But reall, who needs a watch when you have a cell phone?

I have a fancy watch and seeing as I like fancy type watches, I have an analog. I think they look much better, and more fancy. I don't think digital watches are very fancy at all.

I don't really prefer one more than the other, but the watch i'm wearing now is analog. It's got no numbers or little tick marks, just 4 circles on the 12, 3, 6, and 9. I can tell the time fairly quickly and accurately on my watch, I don't think I'll be able to tell the time faster with a digital watch, that's why i don't prefer one over the other. but i picked analog on the poll cuz that's what i use

Analog watches are more aesthetically pleasing, but I must say that I have to take time to "decipher" the time whereas telling the time on a digital watch is instant for me. Perhaps I'd get better at it over time, but I feel that analog clocks are unnecessary in a digital age. I'd also guess they are far less accurate.

As long as you can tell what second it is, there usually isn't a need for additional accuracy.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I've always worn digital watches for as long I remember. I do believe that analog watches look better, but I wear watches to know the time, not to look good. Digital is just faster, and usually gives me more features like light, stopwatch, etc.
