Help with "Generic Host Process for Win32" error
I'm having a little from.
From time to time I'm getting an error message about "Generic Host Process for Win32" (Using WinXP Home Edition)" I also get this error report: Error report: szAppName : szAppVer : 0.0.0.0 szModName : unknown szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000 After each time I've gotten this message it seems as if I loose my audio sound. Every time I try to play an audio file after this message, using WinAmp 5.05 I get this message: Bad DirectSound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration. Error code: 88780078 The Message in Swedish: Generic Host Process for Win32 Services har stött på ett problem och måste avslutas. Om du höll på att arbeta med något kan det hända att det du arbetat med gått förlorat. Beskriv problemet för Microsoft. Vi har skapat en felrapport som du kan skicka till oss för att hjälpa oss att förbättra Generic Host Precess för Win32. Rapporten kommer att behandlas konfidentiellt och anonymt. Felrapport: szAppName : szAppVer : 0.0.0.0 szModName : unknown szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000 Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Well it suggest installing drivers. Try updating your audio driver and see if that does anything. Its a good start. :\
(I cant find that error code) There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
Could be hardware failure. Is the computer getting enough ventilation? Have you had problems like this in the past? Can you repeat this error?
Some solutions I found: Update Drivers Check the Sound Card for problems/compatibility Reinstall DirectX This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. Vibrate

Well, I did a make a phone call to one computer store in town.
They said that they were familiar with the "Generic Host Process" error message and suggested I would install Service Pack 2 för WinXP. Well, now that's done. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I have the same problem. It happens everyday, pretty much coming out of nowhere (I could be browsing folders, browsing the Web, playing a game, etc.), I can't seem to be able to pinpoint what's the cause. It even happens if I don't touch to anything once the computer is started, after some hours. Once the error message has appeared, I also lose my audio and also the auto-play feature from CD drives. However, I can restore the audio by restarting the service "Windows Audio", which was stopped by the error.
My guess would be that it's somekind of a virus, but none get scanned by either anti-virus or anti-spam programs. I would try installing Service Pack 2, but it's already installed. Anyone has been able to solve this? I was speaking idiomatically. |
I updated to Service Pack 2 and the I don't get the message anymore.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
