MSCE Certifications Starting Points?

I'm interested in obtaining a Microsoft Certification. So far I'm leaning towards MSCE. But could you guys give me advice on where to start. Where would somebody with no experience start and what would he need to make the learning process go a lot smoother?

How would I go about running Windows Server 2003 on a Windows XP machine?
I've heard of VMware and Virtual PC.

Thanks

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Just curious, do you need this for a job or anything? Around here, MCSE is worthless. It's not even more important than A+ or Net+. Even the tech jobs at the college here don't require it, and they're in bed with MS. I would hope you at least have A+ and Net+ first.

Enough of that, you might wanna try looking for the learn-it-yourself books online, seeing as how the set for Server 2003 is like $300. The set I learned out of was published by MS and called "MCSE Self-Paced Training Kit Server 2003".

There's nowhere I can't reach.
