Computer doesn't Shut Down

When I go to Start - Turn off Computer, it freezes before it goes to shut down. So I ALT+CTRL+DEL and turn off. It works but when it reaches to the Computer Turning Off. It just sits there. I waited for 10 minutes, and nothing. The mouse was still visible during that stage and I could move it, so it didn't crash on me =/ I did a virus scan today and the problem still occurs. Maybe it didn't pick it up?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

It might be a conflicting software running that can't be terminated properly. Try to get rid of useless programs running as background processes and see if that fixes the problem.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I uploaded reg to shut down faster than before I hope fix it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well, if you get really desperate you could always try pulling the plug/pushing the power button. I've actually done that once or twice, and it didn't seem to adversely affect my computer. But you should try out the other's advise first, as shutting down your computer this way isn't really recommended.

Can anyone comfirm that Ryu's upload really works or knows a site that I can download it. Sorry, I just don't trust you from previous experiences. :S (And partly because the reg he gave me is mispelled, psh).

And thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'll see.

edit: I got a program called Super Fast Shut Down, and it works perfectly. But it immediately shuts down, and I'm not sure if that's good for my computer. o_o Anyone have any issues with that prog?

I was speaking idiomatically.

What does that program to shut down fast...does it cause a BSOD and crashes the system? :lolsign:

To see if it's a software conflict, try booting into safe mode and shutting down. If you're still having the issue, we can be pretty sure it's not a problem with certain software having trouble closing.

Blue screen of death?

No, it just loads, wait 5 seconds and immediately shuts off. No item indicates anything prior to its shutdown.

And I'll try that, thanks, Lukage.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
