Unhappy Resize Partitions - Data Lost

Using Partition Logic 0.62, I resized my spare drive's only partition in hopes of making a second one. I then went on to create a new partition in the free space. After booting up windows, I proceed to see the results. I expect to see all my data and a second partition but in horror, I find my data gone and two icons in My Computer labeled Local Disk(F: ) and Local Disk(G: ). Both ask to be formatted when I click them. Please help me to recover my lost data....

Jam it back in, in the dark.

very few programs let you repartition drives without losing the data on the drive.

Recovery really depends on how much money you're willing to spend on the software to do the recovery.

I only found one freeware program that lists an ability to restore lost partitions. Note I haven't tested or used this software myself.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Firstly, don't ever mess with partitions on a hard drive without backing up all vital data first (sorry bout the late notice).

Secondly, DO NOT format those parititions if you want to restore those files.

Thirdly, if this alleged program actually works, it would be cheaper for you to buy a new HD to do this than it would to send the ruined hard drive in for recovery. That crap can be VERY expensive. Again, like other comments, I can't verify the recovery program, but it might be worth the chance. You can get a 200GB HD these days for around $80 US, which would be much cheaper than the probable $200-600+ price for professional recovery.

good luck mate. I'm sorry I'm not as helpful as everyone else, but I hope you kept some backups. there was a program that was mentioned on ctrl-alt-del-online.com a while back, but I forgot the name of it.. however the web comic artist recommended it. You can try it for free, but it requires money to use all the features.

I was speaking idiomatically.
