sky render - my web design and photos
sky render is the product of a year-old idea to go professional. Services
provided are web design with hosting and photography, but may also include logo and print design. I just acquired my domain and web space a few days ago, but I haven't uploaded a (worthwhile) site yet. None of the following images are/will be optimized for 56KAY. Feel free to leave any comments or criticisms. http://www.sky-render.com/ [web design] http://www.sky-render.com/full/web/zucchiniblossom.jpg Website for a local mediterranean-style cafe. Awesome authentic European food and drinks. I did their current site a year ago, however the owner won't give me any more information to put on the site due to major procrastination. http://www.sky-render.com/full/web/fissioncore.jpg This is the site for my classmates' game and web hosting company. They used to offer web design by me until I broke away from them due to conflicts with the backend developers. I am still, technically, part owner of it. The site has a template, but no content to fill it. http://www.sky-render.com/prev/skyrender.jpg As mentioned above, sky render is my website for my own design company. I'm in the process of testing different layouts for the final release. This may be final. http://www.sky-render.com/full/web/skyrender2.jpg I completely scrapped my previous design for something a little more cleaner and robust. A friend said that it stands out much more than the last design, which as the new designer in town, helps me out a little bit extra. [photography] photos coming soon! so many ~~ (also, photos will be displayed as links here) [other] http://www.sky-render.com/prev/skyrenderlogobeta.jpg The first logo design I made for my site. This was originally going to be finished into a pop art grunge piece along with my site. I favor my newer style a little more. http://www.sky-render.com/prev/skyrenderlogofinal.gif The most current version of my logo. The coloring of the text in the logo will vary depending on the site's color scheme. Jam it back in, in the dark.

Designing websites in something like Photoshop is all well and good, but personally I find prototyping in HTML and CSS is a far more practical and useful exercise. At the end of the day you need to translate what you've made into useable, workable webpages, and that's a consideration that should be in the back of your mind when considering these things.
They look nice enough though, although I'd question the use of your logo on both your's and your mate's sites. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
OP makes good websites.
Still, you make cool designs... better than what I can do -_- This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
They're gorgeous! I remember seeing an odler version of Zucchini Blossom, but I love the new one.
I'm rather fond of clean, stylish approach in all those samples. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Thanks for the comments!
And about the logo thing, originally I did use it because I considered myself a branch of the FissionCore guys. Now, I don't have much to do with them so the site and company is rotting away, but the design belongs to me. It's mine and I doubt FC will be around much longer. C'est la vie. I created a much brighter design of my portfolio site since my friend bitches and complains about the old one. :/ http://www.sky-render.com/full/web/skyrender2.jpg I may change a few little things, but this is pretty much final. Also, constructive criticism is actually appreciated. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Ah cool, yeah making templates in XHTML and CSS is definitely the way to go. It was stuff like the drop shadows, which don't always work out as a practical idea in XHTML+CSS but are easy to do in Photoshop and the such like that made me think they might be image mock ups. But yeah, good work then. My bad for making assumptions then.
As for your site: I certainly prefer the new design, it's got a more vibrant look to it. The one thing that does look a little odd though is the "home", "portfolio" and "contact" at the top look a bit out of place because of the font you've used. The rest of the page uses quite modern clean fonts and so they sort of feel a little misplaced. Just a thought. Looking good though. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
