Ocean's Thirteen

Ocean's Thirteen

Quote:
What are the odds of getting even?

Danny Ocean (George Clooney) and the gang would have only one reason to pull off their most ambitious and riskiest casino heist — to defend one of their own. But they’re going to need more than luck on their side to break The Bank.

Ruthless casino owner Willy Bank (Al Pacino) never imagined that the odds were against him when he double-crossed Danny Ocean’s friend and mentor Reuben Tishkoff (Elliott Gould), putting the distraught Reuben in a hospital bed in critical condition.

But Bank miscalculated…badly. He may have taken down one of the original Ocean’s eleven, but he left the others standing and, worse for him, gave them a shared purpose: to take Bank down on the night of what should be his greatest triumph — the grand opening of his new casino, appropriately named The Bank.

Their strategy is twofold. First they will ruin him financially by turning the tables on the precept that the house always wins. But that’s just money. The knockout punch will be to Bank’s personal pride and joy: his reputation as the only hotelier who has earned the Royal Review Board’s Five Diamond Award on every single one of his hotels.

The plan is elaborate, dangerous and damn near impossible…but there are no limits when it comes to one of their own.

“Ocean’s Thirteen” reunites stars George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle, Bernie Mac, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, Eddie Jemison, and Shaobo Qin, with Carl Reiner and Elliott Gould. Al Pacino joins the cast as Willy Bank, with Ellen Barkin starring as his right-hand woman, Abigail Sponder.
Third time is the charm? A movie that features a ridiculous amount of big names: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Bernie Mac, Al Pacino to name a few.

The movie has been out since Friday June 8. From what I've read so far, it has been getting good reviews and doing well at the box office.

Has anyone seen it? Any thoughts? I plan on seeing it this weekend.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Dance party!

Clearly, I want to see it pretty badly. I enjoyed Ocean's Twelve, and though Ocean's Eleven was awesome. Thirteen, I hear, is supposedly the best of the three. Planning on seeing it within the next few days.

How ya doing, buddy?

Okay, so I saw it today. I must say... better than the second, POSSIBLY on par with the first, but not better than the first. It was nice how it was so incredibly personal this time around, and you got to see sides of each character you never saw before. The characters were so intensely real, and the plot isn't too hard to follow, unlike Ocean's Twelve which leaves you going "Uh... WHY?!"

Overall, 7/10. Go see it. Good caper.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I liked it because it got straight to the action, and despite the obvious impossibilities, it's just pure elaborate fun. It shouldn't matter how limitless the resources the men have are or how any kind of screwup would be fatal to the entire plan, we just see everything work out with a brief explanation or hint for some of the less obvious capers. I could understand each member's specialty in more detail and the movie just makes you feel good on the whole too. You'll have fun watching the ingenuity of the schemes, all part of a master plan.

I loved it. I only saw Twelve once, but from what I remember it wasn't all that hot compared to the first. Thirteen however got pretty close to the greatness of Eleven. Great twists, funny dialogues, overall entertainment.

I was speaking idiomatically.
