VGA Cooling

Having purchased a GeForce 7950 GX2 and seen the temperatures it can rise to, I have since been looking for a VGA cooler for this graphics card.

My setup currently has 120MM fan blowing air directly at the top of the card. This is an Antec SmartCool fan which sets its speeds according to the motherboard.

There is enough space to place a VGA cooler directly beneath the graphics card (from what VGA coolers I have seen, they take up about 2 slots for enough air to pass though).

The graphics card has a fan on it already (what graphics card doesn't these days?) and my concern is the direction in which the VGA cooler would be blowing the air into the graphics card, e.g. spinning in the opposite direction that my graphics card fan is currently operating.

Does anyone have any experience with these VGA coolers? I'm not really in the market to get water cooling so I'm just asking if anyone knows anything about this and of any VGA coolers that might be up for recommendation? I'm also thinking of putting in a delta fan in place of the current 120MM fan.

Thanks in advance.

If the fan is an exhaust type which it sounds like it is from your description, then yes the fan should be pulling air from the case and blowing it onto the GPU and exhausting it though the back of your case though the second expansion slot.

Personally I'm a fan of the Arctic Cooling line as they seem to always fit the board correctly and run extremely quite. From the looks of it they don't have one out for the 7950 line, but the 7900 cooler might fit. I would email them and ask such and if not find out when the plan to have the 7950 version out. They are normally pretty quick in getting new designs out.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
