666 Satan
Jio is a young boy interested in achieving one thing: to conquer the world. He meets the treasure hunter Ruby Crescent and soon learns about the amazing weapons O-Parts and those who are able to use these weapons O.P.T.S. Jio 's dark and lonely past lead him to trust nothing in the world except for money and himself however he later finds himself travelling with Ruby (rather reluctantly) as her bodyguard. After a short time together, Jio and Ruby part ways (as Ruby runs out of money to pay Jio for being a bodyguard) but almost immediantly Ruby is kidnapped by the man with 666 on his forehead, Satan. Jio attempts to rescue Ruby, realizing that he himself is a O.P.T.S. but is beaten quickly by a strong O-Part. Immediantly after this, the numbers 666 appear on Jio's forehead, revealing that Jio is the real devil Satan and instantly defeats the fake Satan. Jio decides to continue travelling with Ruby until she can pay him for being a bodyguard.
This is an amazing manga that is written by Seishi Kishimoto, brother of Masashi Kishimoto (creator of naruto). While his art is very similar to that of his brother, his story is much darker and far more religious. I absolutely love 666 but so far there is no american release in sight and no anime on the horizon either. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Yeah, it is soo unfortunate that 666 isn't recognise and acknowledge by many people.
One of the possible reasons is that Naruto and 666 came out at approximately the same time and many ppl saw Naruto as a good action manga where the action was developed quickly and its easy to get attached. However in 666's case the story is equally interesting, but the downside is that the actual story doesn't start off that well! You will have to read at least 2 volumes before getting addicted to it! 666 can be found on www.tidwah.net under 'releases' How ya doing, buddy? |

I wouldn't say that the story doesn't start off well...it just starts a bit slow. However where naruto is fairly upbeat a lot of the time 666 can be extremely depressing. Jio is directly responsible for the deaths and hatred of the people he cares about whereas naruto is merely a victim of circumstance.
On a slightly more interesting note, in v5 Kishimoto san introduces the kaballah on top of all of the christian references. So far he seems to be having little trouble blending the two belief systems together. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? How ya doing, buddy? |
i'd be willing to swing it in the way of Ganix and Eva.
"It looked cool". Most amazing jew boots All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed. |
hmm.. I haven't read it yet.. Probably wont bother. I'll just wait for an anime to come out. I did check out the artwork for it. looks interesting.
I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |

I love kishimoto sans rants at the beginning of some of the volumes. Apparently he gets a lot of crap for "ripping off" his brothers art style.
It may be some time before we get an anime. This is a story that will most likely have a definate ending and then (hopefully) get a 26 episode series. Done properly, this could be a saga on the level of X or Gilgamesh. Then again they could just as easily turn v1-5 into 25 eps of a typical shounen action series and milk it til it's dry. Here's to hoping they take the high road. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |

Apparently this has been licensed by viz....and retitled as O-Parts Hunter?!?! Why?! This series isn't even about hunting o-parts. That's like changing DBZ to Chi Master or or S-Cry-Ed to Alter Freaks.
FELIPE NO |
At least it's more on topic than "Chibi Vampire" ever was.
Honesly, it's the only name that's diriven me away from buying something. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed. |

True enough, but they're allready going to have a hard time convincing people that this isn't just another naruto knockoff. Changing the title to something childish like this will not help.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Seriouly, Karin is a great manga and I can't wait to buy it, but Tokyopop is releaseing Chibi Vampire which AFIK is not Krain so I guess Tokyopop is down a sale.
See, it's good when things keep thier inteneded name, it avoids shite. There's nowhere I can't reach. All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed. |

The name change removes all of the religous elements. My worry is that they're going to try and censor the book itself. Zatchbell, Dr. Slump.......
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
You don't suppose they'll find a way to contraven the whole "Lucifer side" thing do you?
The story wouldn't make a damn load of sence otherwise. How ya doing, buddy? All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed. |

Before the tenten censoring I would have said no but now.....
I was speaking idiomatically. |
That was DC comics being idiots though.
Plus, I remember reading that jump wasn't exactly alowing free reign over the issue ether. I meen, it was still thier bad for releasing it in such a state, yes. How ya doing, buddy? All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed. |
Good Chocobo |
I read the first volume last night, and I'm entertained, so I'll continue with this. I like the artwork a lot. Typical shonen fair, I guess, but engaging still.
Also, I can't help but notice that this ancient language looks strangely like Hangul (Korean writing script) FELIPE NO

I'm really curious as to where the Japanese get this "O-Part" idea from. I mean, the first time I saw it used in a series was in Master Mosquiton, where Inaho was obsessed with finding the "O-part." And now it's in another series? Is there some precedence for this thing that I'm unaware of?
Also, I think it's B.S. that they're changing the name of the series. Are they going to remove all the references to Satan as well? What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
O-Part meens "out of place Artifact" in most media, litterly, a discovery that doesn't make sence given the location it was found (Like an Indian tribe burial having a cannon for example).
