Super Smash Brawl (Wii) Main Theme Composer is...

Nobuo Uematsu!

Quote:
The main theme was created for us by none other than famed Final Fantasy composer, Nobuo Uematsu!

Additionally, opera singer Ken Nishikiori has also participated in this project on vocals.

...And as a special service to readers of this site, I can say that the game's music will be performed by a full orchestra.

It will be a deluxe chorus complete with lyrics in Latin.

It's of a slightly different disposition than previous Smash Bros. games, wouldn't you say?

I also want to change the atmosphere of the game itself a little, too. But you'll just have to look forward to how I'll be doing that.

I'll be damned if he's one of the composers for the entire game. I stated it in the E3 topic already but Nintendo won't stop bringing us joy and fulfillment. Right now they are like Gods.

Somehow I feel that the music in this game will top the previous SSBM. The mian theme in this game is, IMO, somewhat better than SSBM's main theme.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Nintendo has E3 on its knees right now.

Its almost like they're gonna go "Ok, it's over, we were kidding, it can't be done".

Great theme, I was sad when they didn't show Smash Bros. at their conference. I'm glad they were just holding out. I can't wait for it!

I agree. Wonder if he'll be the main composer for the rest of the game as well.

Isn't Super Smash Bros. mostly rearrangements of music from all the other games, though?

Yeah but there are the menus theme, the exclusives-to-SSB stages themes.

But yeah Uematsu, arranger for Nintendo's themes... ? Let's wait for more news....

the arranger for all themes? I was hoping the composer for the MGS games (without Harry Gregson Williams) would be part of it...

I'm doubting that Uematsu will do anything past the main theme, considering he isn't even doing anything past a single track for FFXII or FFXIII. I'm expecting Hirokazu Ando to be the main composer and arranger, just like the last two games. He does a great job as is.

I'm really curious as to what more can be done with the themes though, at least in terms of arrangement. Are we going to start hearing more UNTS UNTS UNTS in Brawl?

Uematsu has got it made. He can compose single themes for high-profile games for huge cash settlements, get his name on the product and maintain visibility, all with about 3-4 minutes of music per game.

With prospects like that, it's easy to see why he's not composing many complete scores lately...

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but is the new SSB for the Revolution or GC? As for Uematsu, I really hope that he scores more than just one track. He has already proven to still have his talent in this. *eagerly awaits Mistwalker soundtracks*

Since Nobuo is currently busy with 3 Mistwalker projects (Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and Cry On) and with Black Mages 3, I doubt we'll hear unrelated full game OSTs from him any time soon.

Check out my original music at my Soundcloud page!

Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012):

SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

Thumbs up

It is great to see Uematsu-san doing different genres of games,
but I was a little underwhelmed and dissappointed by the music.

However I am still pummped to hear his theme when I get a chance
to boot the game up.

The Wii is certainly making a big spalsh after SONY fumbled the ball.

I'm wondering how many different remakes of old themes Ando can create without sounding lazy.

Yeah, that's the problem. He's already done a good amount of remakes in SSBM. This time, all of the tracks are to be orchestrated, so I hear, which may liven things up a bit, but I don't know. I'd like it even better if Ando expanded on the old tracks; you know, like maybe add some of his own material in there as well.

There are plenty of themes, I feel, that Ando could still incorporate into the game aside from the ones already done. They did that kind of thing with SSBM to some extent (such as the Balloon Fight theme for Infinite Glacier or the Mach Rider theme in Big Blue), I don't see why he wouldn't for Brawl.

This is merely speculation, but for example, he could throw in something like "Hyrule Castle" from A Link to the Past for a Zelda stage, or something back from Kirby's Adventure (which he helped do the music for, anyway) for a Kirby stage. I mean come on, for a Metroid stage, to my knowledge he hasn't really even touched any of the great stuff from Super Metroid (unless you want to count Samus's victory theme with that).
