Gitaroo Man Awareness + Appreciation Thread
Keep the love coming!
Temporarily immortalized in my av/sig. I have finally experienced the joy of the Gitaroo power! I've listened to the soundtrack so frequently, that I was ready for my favourite songs, but I couldn't stand playing through "Nuff Respect" at all. The characters are all pretty cute and I love the narration in the collection section. All the eyecandy is very distracting when you play, and if you're not focusing on the trace line and the buttons constantly while you're playing, you just screwed up your health bar. This game should have a severe seizure warning for lots of parts. When Gregorio III is firing organ beams at you and Flying-O's death rays strike the circle of people, you have to see all the flash and glitz which is very funny to watch. Boogie For an Afternoon - first stage is deceptively easy and then they throw Twisted Reality - "Gitaroo...can I eat it?" Flying To Your Heart - energetic j-dance. Cool pose and held note when you beat it. Although taking the gitaroos from your opponents always looks wicked whenever you win. Bee Jam Blues - fortunately Mojo just said "come on now" for each of the many times I died Void - purely dodging attacks is fun, as long as you limit your mistakes Nuff Respect - BORING! I would have died had U1 not kept distracting the robot. The Legendary Theme - How soothing! Purely attack, so you still need to exercise caution with mistakes. Born To Be Bone - Yes, yes, yes! A dodgefest to start you off and then a very catchy latin song. Tainted Lovers - Ooh nice, something that absolutely suits an electric guitar now. Gregorio III is the best freak ever! Who else can use a whole cathedral to attack? Overpass -> Legendary Theme - tragic Resurrection - first try! Lots of battery opportunities I really wish they could have had an extended version of 21st Century Boy or even just the Japanese version. Anyhoo, there's my two cents. I also believe that Master's Mode is for crazy people. Just wow! Jam it back in, in the dark. |
A great game, it had the perfect level of difficulty and was not like other music rhythm games that you can fully beat all difficulties in a single night (Parappa anyone?). I never could beat Born to Be Bone in Masters difficulty. You start out with so little life and have to defend for so long...
Yes a great game with catchy tunes. It needs to have a sequel. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I've only heard the soundtrack... is the game any good? I'd imagine it's quite fun as it seems to have that crazy Japanese appeal along with some awesome music.
Flying To Your Heart is definitely my fave though. ![]() This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
It's great. Though I don't play it much, considering the analog gimmick with the game pisses me off royally. Bee Jam Blues is funky as hell, I wish there were more music games with that kind of music in them.
My favorite level would have to be Tainted Lovers, as the first time playing it was amazing. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I just have to post to express my appreciation for the game. I don't play it much anymore, but it was, and still is, one of the best rhythm games to date.
Born to be Bone" was my favorite track. I also like "Tainted Lovers" and the "Legendary Theme" tracks. Remeniscing actually makes me wanna to play it again, but I probably won't. I was speaking idiomatically. |

I FINALLY was able to purchase this game. $45 used, but it was totally worth it.
Haven't had time to play this game that often, but I already beat normal mode and I'm halfway done with Masters (damn you Sanbone Trio!! T3T) Great game. Everyone should definetly play it *heart* What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I just got this game last christmas during it's big reprint and I was happy to find it. At first I sucked pretty bad on Flying to your Heart and most afterwards but I beat the whole game during my roadtrip. I love the game a great deal. I practicly play it at least once a week every week just to wind down from school.

Personally, I think they MURDERED Resurrection in game. There's a hollow metallic sound during your attack and charge segments, and the music that's the buffer between phases could have been touched up too.
Otherwise I love the game. I still cant beat the Sambone Trio on masters though. Sigh... What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |

Ressurection is beautiful on the OST, but I agree, it's not that good on normal mode. And in Vs. play, there are times when the background doesn't play at all! (It only happened to a few copies, so maybe it was just their DVDs) I also don't like the fact that you can't play Versus Masters play. Just imagining rocking out to Flyin' to Your Heart or Tainted Lovers (I saw it on my friend's file, and it's CRAZY) against someone with equal talents as you... Most amazing jew boots |
Ah Gitaroo Man. Its such a great game with such great music. This was really the first music game I really got into. I too am stuck on Sand Bone Trio on Masters Play.
I really lucked out... I picked up the last new copy at Wal-Mart a few years back, its a shame that it didn't do so well. I guess that there was a Mobile Phone Gitaroo Man game in Japan. I really wish I could see how it looked and played. The creative team that made Gitaroo Man are making a new XBOX 360 game... though it looks to be nothing more than a platformer, and not another musical adventure to Planet Gitaroo. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |

My friend bought it alst week. Great game. AND GREAT SOUNDTRACK. Though "Born to be bone" is better in-game than on the soundtrack. If someone is good enough to get their best in the highest difficulty and can record it, that would be nice.

I've been stuck on Mojo King Bee's stage on Master's play for God knows how long... ANY TIPS FOR THIS GOD FORSAKEN STAGE?
I was speaking idiomatically. |
For Mojo King Bee, I would put the song on repeat and listen to it while you're playing Starcraft or whatever you do with your time online. After you manage to get the beat right, try it in the game. The OST is the same as in the game(unlike Ouendan's OST) so it should do nothing but help. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Really? I thought the game version was freakishly longer, since depending how good or bad you do, they would change up the music.
We are talking about Master's Mode, right? FELIPE NO |

Anyways, I'd follow Elixir's advice; listen to that song nonstop, and try playing it on normal mode to feel the "pattern", y'know? Good luck with that one; I was playing Gitaroo Man today, and that song is so difficult, especially with the guarding stages. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
it's a marvelous game !! i love this game and Flying To Your Heart is wonderful
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Awesome game and probably my most played game on my PS2. I generally trade in my old PS2 games to get newer ones, so Gitaroo Man stands as the only game left from my initial PS2 purchase. I ain't givin' it up anytime soon.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Heh I traded in Gitaroo Man days after I bought it towards a PSP. It's still a great game, but I definitely don't have the time to try and practice master's mode. Flyin' To Your Heart is my favourite song, but if I made one more mistake in Boogie For An Afternoon, I would have died (it was that close)! I've listened to my favourite songs on the OST so many times (Born To Be Bone, Tainted Lovers, and Flyin' To Your Heart), but my left thumb always seems to think it's right on target when it's far from it.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
You traded it after a couple of days! TOWARDS A PSP?! Gitaroo Man is worth at least 8 PSP's!

It also could help if you found another way of pressing the buttons. I have three ways (you probably do the first two subconsciously.)
1. Using the pad of the thumb. This is good for guard mode, as you can switch between the four buttons easier. 2. Using the side of the thumb (as in typing). This is better for Attack mode as you can press the button more times per second. 3. And finally, putting the controler on the floor and using my index finger. This involves using the entire arm to all but convulse and press the button almost 5 times faster than mode 2. This is the only way I could survive the parts I HAVE survived on Sambone Trio. Part three also works when trying to survive Solidus's torture in MGS2. And also, I'm going to have to agree with everyone else when they say listen to the soundtrack repeatedly, even though I think that may be what's messing me up with Sambone Trio. The part they keep sending at me is different than what's on the album version. I was speaking idiomatically. |

![]() Oh well. Now that's there's a re-print, it's a bit more easier and cheaper to get, I suppose. I actually put the controller on the ground/my lap, and use my thumb and index finger for the analog stick, and put three fingers (my index, middle, and ring) on the square, triangle, and circle buttons. It works pretty well, and, in the guard stage, I can just play trills (thank goodness for playing piano ;^; ) What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I know, I like to do stupid things like that
![]() About the soundtrack difference, I think you have a point there, I was surprised to hear that in-game, Flying To Your Heart is 30 seconds longer than the OST. As well, I get different parts in Tainted Lovers depending on how well I do, although I like the OST riffs over some of the in game ones, as well as the organ shots. FELIPE NO |
Well, if there's one thing you can count on on Master's mode is you will hear every variant possible, becuase you know, until you do a certain amount of damage it's going to loop back and choose another (or the same) track. And given how many times you may die, you're going to hear a lot.
Btw, I too like non album parts of Tainted Lovers better. I can't describe it that well, but it's towards the middle/end of the song, and it only has 4 notes per measure (I think) instead of 8 or so like the other one. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I copied a friends copy onto my HD using HD Loader... It's a great game... one that I'm not going to spend $45 for a used copy on...
