Fan-Made Games/Levels

I'm aware there's a fair share of fan-made games (like that 2D Halo game) as well as fan-made levels of existing games (like original levels for Mario, Mega Man, and possibly FFVI or Chrono Trigger. I remember reading way back at one site making an FFVI sequel of sorts), but I've never actually tried any of them.

So I'm making this thread where everyone can recommend some good fan-made games and levels. Basically list anything that puts a creative (but also good) spin on the classics. Perhaps a Mario game that adds new types of enemies, or an RPG expansion that features above-average fanfiction writing.

Here's an example I found; though I haven't played it, the concept itself is interesting. Creating all new levels using existing Disney games and sprites is pretty neat.

And I'm sure most people remember those wacky Street Fighter II machines, the ones that featured Ryu throwing a hundred hadokens, Blanka bouncing around the screen, or Guile projecting a double of himself.

So whether it's something absurd, wacky, or completely original, I want to see what kind of fan-made games exist out there, as long as it's fun to play.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

There was a recent thread in the PC game forum on this topic. But I guess it's not like anyone goes there.

Anyway. There's the fan-made remake of King's Quest 2 done by Anonymous Game Developers Interactive. Pure awesomeness. Much better than the original, even. They're making a Quest For Glory 2 remake, and hopefully it'll be just as good or better.

5 Days a Stranger and its sequel 7 Days a Skeptic. Both decent horror/adventure games for people who loved adventure games when they were in their prime.

Demo World: The Legend Continues is absolutely required playing for anyone who's a fan of Mario games, particularly Super Mario World. It's like a combination of Super Mario World and Mario All-Stars, but it's a completely new game. Not only is it pretty long (the all-levels speed run clocks in at over two hours), it has a bunch of new items and features, bizarre levels and obscure secrets that honestly make you WORK to find them, and it's about 50 times harder than Super Mario World. Highly recommended.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I'd second Demo World. What they've done with this game is quite amazing.
