What's Your Favourite VGM OST??

Like the title says - what's your favourite soundtrack/s ever, or at the moment, one that you think everyone should own? or that you couldn't possibly imagine yourself living without (if you want to go that far!)

Is it because of the composer/ style/ the game itself??
Why is it your favourite/ "ost of the day/month/week?"
If not that, just name some tracks instead of an entire ost

you can include anime or film soundtracks if VGM isn't your favourite genre

I'd go for these as favorite soundtracks:

Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts II
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

For Kingdom Hearts, Yoko Shimomura's style is just outstanding, and from hearing her previous works from Super Mario RPG I don't think any RPG music will top either of those for a long time.

For Prince of Persia, I seem to really enjoy the 'middle-eastern' and rock style of music, and this is exactly what this is. Stuart Chatwood deserves to compose for more games and in different styles besides the PoP series - he has a lot of potential.

Thumbs up

Right now, my favorite soundtrack and most listened to soundtrack is Wander and the Colossus ~Roar of the Earth~ Original Soundtrack, by far. Kow Otani has completely and utterly blown me away with this score. The battle themes are pulse-pounding and epic and there are many songs that are also peaceful and damn near tear-jerking. This was hands down my favorite soundtrack of 2005.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Can't wait to hear Shimomura's work on FFvsXIII. Kingdom Hearts (first soundtrack) is my fav out of the two

I like PoP Warrior Within OST a bit more than Sands of Time OST but both are excellent albums I have to agree

I'm playing Shadow of the Colossus at the moment - it's quite addictive! (as is listening to it's soundtrack which hasn't left my mp3 player since I got it from gamemp3s!!

How ya doing, buddy?

The Kessens have really blown me away, though Kessen 3 was more of a departure from orchestrated music to pseudo electronica stuff with orchestral instruments. Whatever, good stuff all around.

Front Mission 5 -Scars of the War- - Best FM ever composed. Excellent classical and techno fuchi komas like "Gladiators", "Survivor", "Visions", and "Grim Reaper" make this soundtrack a blast to listen to.

R-Type Final - The best soundtrack for when I'm in asanoganawa mode. This VGM reached 200%.

Final Fantasy VIII - The best FF soundtrack since Tactics. Impressive and complex melodies make every song very entertaining. It has the best battle themes too.

Digital Devil Saga Integral OST and/or SMT Nocturne 2-disc OST. Either/or are good.

Mostly due to Meguro's style and the generally dark, creepy ambience most of the tracks possess. Plus you get tracks like Joint Struggle or Hari-Hara 2nd Movement that have so much raw power behind them it's almost scary.

Currently my Favorite Game CD is

Darius Gaiden ~Zuntata~
The disc has a cool sci-fi sound represented
by several different genres. Ogura is awsome!!

Favorite film OST is
The Name of the Rose by James Horner
The mix of his electronics and the use of
chant makes for an awsome listen.

My favorite soundtrack by far has to be that of Zelda: Wind Waker...I don't know what it is that makes the music so good, I've become so partial to medli's prayer especially, and also the ocean theme and the legendary hero. I know many complained about the last zelda game since it wasn't as graphically amazing, but Koji Kondo did a pretty good job with this fine work of music...

Final Fantasy VI . The entire track is just so...varied, so many different musical styles.

goldeneye - i especially like the theme right near the end called "Farewell Hyrule King" or something like that. its a piano remix of the castle/dark world theme from LttP, its really powerful and moving. i love it .

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Hard to say for me. I would have to choose multiple. Ill use my music mix as a judge based on how many songs from each ost were included, so i'll say:

Castlevania Symphony of the Night
Tales of Legendia
Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion
Shadow of the Colossus
Chrono Cross
Xenogears
Any number of Final Fantasy albums.

My favorite songs aren't necessarily in there but they certainly have some of the most consistent quality throughout where nearly every song is worthwhile.

My favorite soundtracks (and favorite games), and are soundtracks I have actually imported are:
SaGa Frontier 2
Wild Arms 2

I'm also a tremendous fan of the soundtracks from
Terranigma
Xevious 3D-G+
Plok (Tim Follin yeah!)
Xenosaga II (Only the Shinji Hosoe work)

Good to see people liking Shadow of the Colossus, that album was absolutely outstanding. Another composer's name to keep an eye out for.

Chrono Cross.
May sound cliché and all, and I'm a Mitsuda fan, but it's really something. The great mix between celtic songs with speed to calmer and very comfortable songs makes it a hit.

I also enjoy the F-Zero GX soundtrack, it goes great with the game.

Nothing hype in particular. But currently I enjoy Bleach - Heat Soul (PSP Rip) and Animal Crossing.

Bleach game music combines the jazz, soul and techno which really smooth imho, the music reminds me the style of Rockman Exe Transmission (Game Cube Rip). Animal crossing is also enjoyable because the music is so damn relaxin', jut cant have enough for them!

You all think you got good deals, huh? Ha! You frugal and observant shoppers have more to learn.

None of that approaches this:

The Mr. Methane CD, purchased over ebay for .01¢. Yeah, free shipping. This guy performs all sorts of neat stuff, including the doot doot, doot doot from the Blue Danube.

Allow me to share a track from this CD. Here ya go.
I think he should have paid you .01¢ instead.
