I'm surprised nobody has made a thread for this yet, but at the same time, I'm not surprised at all. For some reason, there doesn’t seem to be much hype/media attention surrounding this game, probably because on paper it sounds like a lame Tomb Raider ripoff. Still, I find all of this kind of surprising considering Naughty Dog has pretty much put out nothing but gold :/. Hell, I wasn't even too interested until I started seeing screens and videos on IGN.

This game just reeks of awesomeness::

You'll also be able to unlock different rendering modes, like a black and white mode, a sepia-toned mode, a next-gen filter (with appropriate super bloom and saturated colors) and even a mode that doesn't utilize textures, allowing you to see how the geometry was put together more easily.
This game looks like Tomb Raider (plot), Prince of Persia (environment/puzzles) and Gears of War (gameplay) all got together and had sex - producing this game.

Anyways, looks like it's going to be a good one. What do you guys think.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I've never really played any tomb raider games but this game does look pretty slick and I have nothing but love and respect for Naughty Dog creations but not have a PS3 is the main reason I'm not talking much about it. Even though I love Naughty Dog, this just isn't a console deciding game for me.

It's neat seeing ND taking a different game style but I've always loved Crash and Jak & Daxter. I'll be really interested in how the intend to bring Jak to the PS3 if they do.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I wondering, based on the title, if this game is related to the Uncharted Waters series of video games, or if its just a slight coincidence? Looks interesting, I'm also getting an Indiana Jones vibe from it, especially since I just watched the movies a couple days ago.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

This game looks pretty interesting and I'd be willing to pick it up when it comes out whenever I decide to get a PS3.

Too bad that the two figureheads that conceptualized and made Crash and Jack & Daxter great have left NaughtyDog. I'm skeptical about this game as the post Rubin/Gavin Naughty Dog game ( Jak Racing ) was horrendous.

It could be great, but I doubt it.

I love action adventure games in general, ever since developers started adding stuff in for gamers who explore.

I'll definitely get it, but I think the area that could use the most improvement at this point is probably the music. When you're talking about these kind of cinematic games, the music can really elevate the whole thing above what you might think of it normally. I don't think I would have liked Tomb Raider Legend near as much as I do if I hadn't loved the soundtrack, too.

But yeah, I'm excited. The cover system and the really polished animations look good.

Another Tomb Raider in the vein of Legend and the next Silent Hill, both exclusively for PS3 - that's about the only thing I can imagine that would make me buy one of those overpriced Sony machines. Uncharted looks nice, but unless it's the best thing since sliced bread, I'll be content just looking at the screenshots.

I'm absolutely stoked to pick up Uncharted. Huge fan of both Naughty Dog and Insomniac (hell, even Sucker Punch of Sly Cooper fame), so I'll buy this if only to support their studio.

Uncharted's developmental progress has shown nothing but positive growth and they're really taking the time and the attention to detail to make this an incredible next-gen title, especially following the likes of Assassin's Creed, which is due in a week earlier, and Ratchet and Clank Future.

But, I don't think it'll be a system seller. The Ratchet series has done quite well, but I don't think it's ever moved systems, and when the game came out I didn't see anyone rushing to buy a PS3 to play it (though believe me, I wished they would've) and I don't suspect Uncharted will, either.

Have to wait for Metal Gear and Final Fantasy to pull that off.

Edi: Oh fu~! I just saw that trailer you posted a link to, Blue Bomber, and I think that's the best trailer yet. Loved the music, though I doubt the music'll be like that in game, sadly. I haven't gotten a chance to get on the PSN yet to download it, but I probably will tonight. Thanks for the link!

I wonder how much lower they will have to go with the price before it's no longer 'overpriced.'

I'm looking forward to the demo next week. This is game is going to need to be a try before you buy situations for me.

well here the 40gb is 399$can which is the same price of the 360 pro but without game. It's still close enough I think...

Well, allow me to rephrase: From the start Sony advertised the PS3 as a jack of all trades machine. I have a computer. I have several media players. I don't need a jack of all trades machine, I just need one that plays PS3 games. As a device that plays PS3 games, it's hopelessly overpriced for me.

It's not really a "jack of all trades machine". It's a blu-ray player and Ps3 game playing machine. Anyone with a HDTV would likely want a HD movie player anyway. The 360 does generally the same damn thing but the HD movie player is pricey and separate, not to mention questionable quality compared to the official players out there. PS3s blu-ray player is actually *good* and worth the money.

I'll cut the middle man and assume you don't have a HDTV otherwise it wouldn't look so terribly pricey to you.

How ya doing, buddy?

Yep, an HDTV doesn't make much sense for me. I don't need a Blu-Ray player, so I won't pay for one. Actually the line-up of PS3 games makes this an easy choice - there's absolutely nothing I'd love to get my hands on. (With the exception of Assassin's Creed - but that's not enough, and it's not exclusive anyway.)

A lot of effort went into this game, that's for sure. There are so many minor things that I noticed in the demo that all add up to a really good game. Stuff like the running animations changing constantly or once and a while he'll trip on something running and almost lose his balance. They weren't kidding when they said a LOT of work went into their animation system and it really helps bring the game to life. The environment is also very reactive as are the game characters. Try punching out enemies near waist high cover sometime or near walls and the entire melee animations change to match the environment.

It's good to see the enemy AI actually try to dodge fire when out in the open which makes it an actual challenge to hit their vitals at times. The cover system in this one also seems to be everything GoW promised but failed to deliver on. Enemies will actually flank you if you spend too much time in one spot and attempt to move into a better position to hit you if they need to. A lot of the cover being destructible also really helps to improve the pace of the game.

As for the rest of game, it's not quite what I expected, though I'm not sure if this demo is showing off every aspect of the game. I've heard this is actually a combat demo and most of the full game is more about exploration and puzzle solving rather than fighting. Personally I'd prefer this because this game really shows off a beautifully crafted world and I'd like the game to give me time to explore it rather than having to focus mostly on people shooting at me.

I'm still going to need to wait for a few reviews of the full game before I go out and pick this one up, or just go rent the full game first if I can. Personally I'm getting sick of shooters and I hope this game doesn't turn out to be a shooter in the jungle with a few platform aspects thrown in once and a while.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Cetra made a bunch of a great points. The animation system is amazing. The AI is pretty smart too. I was really impressed with the water in the game. I was also really impressed with how smooth it ran as well. I'm also interested to see some puzzle solving and more platforming.

It's in my GameQ on Gamefly after Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect.

Just tried out the demo. I was blown away by the animation, but the gameplay was pretty stupid. The gunfights are boring and you run out of ammo way too fast. Of course every guy you shoot is black.

I think it would be more fun if there were more exploration/acrobatics like Tomb Raider.

I thinl different levels have different gameplay focuses. In trailers there are parts with multi levels, beams, and other stuff to climb. And then there's ones with ruins and stuff that act as cover in gunfights. I think they chose a gunplay level in order to appeal to a broader audience.

But this game definately has the Indiana Jones feel to me. Can't wait... no lie.

Someone already asked them and yeah, it's a "combat demo". The game will have a lot more platforming elements -- they confirmed that the combat will not be overwhelming the other aspects of the game.

I just tried out the demo yesterday and I can honestly say I want this game too. I must admit at first, that I was only mildly interested in it, but after playing it, it makes me glad I own a PS3. For some reason I really enjoy the gun battles in this game even though it's been done 10 trillion times before.
