Question how to reduce dvd rom speed?

seems like my dvd rom is dying. I need tool to reduce the reading speed. Nero drive speed only could reduce cd speed, while it will return to 61x when reading dvd. Do you know any software to reduce dvd rom read speed?

Jam it back in, in the dark.
You all think you got good deals, huh? Ha! You frugal and observant shoppers have more to learn.

None of that approaches this:

The Mr. Methane CD, purchased over ebay for .01¢. Yeah, free shipping. This guy performs all sorts of neat stuff, including the doot doot, doot doot from the Blue Danube.

Allow me to share a track from this CD. Here ya go.
I think he should have paid you .01¢ instead.

I believe you can slow down the speed of the DVD by stepping down from UDMA-33 to something slower such as UDMA 1/0 or PIO mode. Click Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers > [your parallel ATA controller]. Look at both the primary and secondary tab to locate your DVD-ROM drive; once you have found it, uncheck "Let BIOS select transfer mode" and select another transfer mode slower than UDMA-33. PIO mode restricts speeds to just 9 MiB/s.

Alternatively, you can just purchase another new DVD-ROM drive; they are relatively inexpensive now and could save effort and time. There is no guarantee the drive will continue to function at a slower speed.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
