Dreamfall: The longest Journey II

Did anyone played it yet?

Personally, I wish I did. I am not a big pc gamer fan (more a console), but when I saw the video of the game and the review on gamespot, I know that it is a game I want to try and to explore the crazy world of that game. Its also on the Xbox but I dont own a Xbox.

any thoughts on the game?

How ya doing, buddy?

I've never played it, but I did play the original game. It was decent enough to warrant playing the sequel, but alas, I have no interest in getting TLJ II right now. There's just lots of other things I want to get right now.

Oh, I hated the ending to the first game. It was too abrupt, as if the developers just said 'screw this' and wrapped it up right there. It left me with a "WTF? That's it?" feeling.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I've played some parts of the biggining of this game. It kinda gets on my nerves, first there talk talk talk, then walk. then talk talk, then walk around again and then the talking gets longer >_< Thats for the intro though, not sure about the rest.
This game is only dedicated to the story becuase the fighting isn't great (or good) and the graphics are nice but today's newer pc games have alot more quality to them. And so far the bigining puzzles are nothing to brag about.
I need to play the rest becuase, obviously, I'm judging it too soon. Hopefully it gets better.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

No, it's like that because it's an adventure game with an emphasis on story. The first game was the same way, but it was a point-click interface. Really, every game doesn't have to be exactly the same to be good. If you enjoyed the first game you'll definitely at least enjoy the second for it's plot, since it is a direct continuation. I'll tell you right now, though, it leaves off on yet another cliffhanger so be warned.

I played this for a bit and really loved it. The main character is just adorable and the story is pretty interesting.

This game reminded me days Omikron and Outcast.

I have ended the game, and loved every bit of it.
Story is just excellent but the ending will either make you mad or excited.

I want the sequesl right now,and please spread the word, otherwise chances of sequel would be dim.

Dont expect hardcore puzzles, there aren't any hard ones.
This game has best art direction yet i have ssen in any game.
The worlds easily surpasses any other game worlds(aesthically).

I didn't know about the game till recently. I'm now playing the first game and It looks pretty good for now. I just returned from my first visit from "Arcadia".

Question about Dreamfall: Can you select the lenguage or is it just in English?

For the US build, it's in English, for the European builds it's in whatever language that the country it's sold in, speaks.

The one thing that I was pissed off with, was that I had pre-ordered the game from FunCom itself and I hadn't recieved my copy until a few days ago. (The game was supposed to ship on the 20th, but didn't finally ship until the 27th)

By this point, I had downloaded the cracked version, and when the actual game box had arrived here, I had already finished the game.

/End backstory

I had a fear that the transition from 2-d to complete 3-d worlds would be a daunting task for the series creators, but in the end those fears were misplaced. I do suspect that there was a lot in this game that was left on the cutting room floor, mostly due to the fact that rendering objects in 3d is a lot more time consuming and difficult than hand drawing the effect you want. I remember seeing some concept art for a train station for the Vactrax, and that element was left out in the final game. Visually the game is stunning, featuring a level of detail that was missed in the closely related, indigo prophecy.

Storywise the game feels like the creator channeled his inner David Lynch (see Twin Peaks). So many layers to decipher in the end. This is a game that some people would need two play-throughs to fully process all of the symbolism or hidden meanings and minor subtleties. Thank goodness the game is very short, so more than one play-through is not a long task. (and you can take the time to try out the different puzzle solutions and what changes when you select different dialogue choices, such as if you put Wonkers back together, you get extra dialogue at the end of the game)

Overall, the game was a very well built product, and I do hope that a sequel gets made which will hopefully resolve the story that seemed so very unhappy in the end.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Mayhaps, it's rather large (4.01 GB). Thus would take a while to upload. If you can find a place for me to put the game, then I'll send it over.

Well, you can download the torrent, but you can downthrottle the upload speed to really really low and then discontinue it after it's done. (Although, the P2P people will slap me silly for suggesting that)

And this doesn't seem like the place to be discussing this.... why not try the Private Message feature.

I loved the first game, but i have to say Ragnar Tornquist dropped the ball with Dreamfall and fucked up big-time. The ending is the worst ending ever to grace a story-driven series.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I think I must be the only person alive who likes adventure games but didn't like Longest Journey. Sure, it has good art direction, but I for one never cared a whit about the characters, and thought the storyline spent a whole lot of time to tell me absolutely nothing.

I've never before encountered an advneture game that felt so restrictive and made me so aware that I was playing a game. At every turn I was reminded that you're not allowed to go here or over there, only A to B to C, and only in specific order. It was constantly frustrating.

I hoped for a big turnaround in the presentation for the sequel, and the context sensitive interface sounded promising. I was really tired of hotspotting with my mouse, so a more generalized and less cold and clinical way of puzzle solving really appealed to me.

I haven't had a chance to play it, but if it's like people say, and the story is the best thing about the game, (and the ending to the story is really bad) than I may not want to play it for very long.
