FTP Trouble (REPOST)

See attached pdf file of the thread from over @ SB or just go there yourself:

I go to upload a file to someone's ftp then after 30 seconds or so the ftp program will lock up. It locks up for minutes at a time and causes my transfers to be really slow going. I've even tried to limit my uploading speed in the ftp programs, but they don't even listen to me.

The only work around I've found is using Window's built in FTP at a command prompt. Which is a pain in the ass.

Anyone have any clues?

Well, if you are behind a router, it might not be able to process a lot of connections with high speed. The freezing you describe is quite common with crappy routers.

How ya doing, buddy?

Well, I don't have a router. The only thing I could think of that might be inhibiting anything is my ZoneAlarm Firewall.

Are there any settings that could remedy that, since I can't turn it off unless I want virus' out the wazoo?

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
