What next-gen system will you buy?

Im probably going to go for the Nintendo Wii. I like the ablity to download old games, and the controler could be pretty awesome.

Im just wondering what everyone else's thoughts are.

I am going to buy the Wii at least fairly close to release, then in a few years buy a PS3 when it drops a bit in price. Once the next generation after this one starts to come out I will buy a Xbox360.

Personally, I'm getting the Wii and the PS3. The Wii for multiplayer awesome, and the PS3 for RPG goodness.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Probably the Wii since it's within my price range. Nothing too exorbitant. Then probably a 360... Then the PS3.

PS3 is way to expensive, even if the price drops, it's STILL gonna be more expensive than the 360 with it's Premium System.

Wii for me please =). I've been a Nintendo fan boy at heart ever since the NES a long time ago so there's no question I'll be getting the Wii.

I'll probably get Wii within a year or so of release...I'll probably get PS3 once the price comes down to where PS2 is now and there's some games I want to play.

360 Arcade stuff looks better everytime I look at it though. If PS3 doesn't shape up, it could be a nice alternative.

That's exactly what I plan to do, minus the 360 part (I have no plans to ever get one). If I do stick to this plan, this will wind up being my first Nintendo console since the SNES, since I went with the PSX instead of the N64 (this was back when I was a kid, and did not have the means to support multiple consoles), and have stuck with Sony ever since. But since Sony decided to go fucking insane in the pricing department, I'll wind up going back to Nintendo before I get the next Sony console.

Wii for sure. On the launch date. No matter what. I'm getting this fucking appealing system. Too much cool things about it you cannot not buy it. I have plenty of games I'm eager to drool over. And you sure do too.

I won't get a XBOX360. There's absolutely no game at all of my taste there. And the future isn't looking good either... I say that, but I know myself, I'm gonna buy it just like I did with the regular XBOX, like 2 years ago, then I'll realized I should have listened to myself. But I'm stupid.

The PS3 is way too expensive for now. Sony will realize that we're not as loser as they are. They tried to drag us to buy the full price with the reason that "the next generation is costing a lot. gimme your money, you Cloud-lovers" (ok I made up the last part, but it's essentially that.)

In summary...

Wii: OUI!
360: probably ending up to buy it and regret it.
PS3: I LOVE YOU CLOUD!! TAKE MY MONEY!!... BUT WHEN YOU'LL OFFER ME MORE APPEALING STUFF IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN HAR HAR.

I'll get a PS3 until a really good franchise gets released (read: MGS, GTA, FF). I'm still playing a lot of good PS2 games I've missed in the past so no rush for me.

I've already got a 360. I'm planning on getting a credit card and putting it away until the PS3 launch, then I'll probably get a Wii by the same time next year, if not earlier. As sexy as Smash Bros. Brawl looks, I can wait. My cousins will likely get it when it comes out anyway.

I'll be getting the Nintendo Wii myself. Hopefully around the time it first hits the shelves. (Though I doubt I would be able to even find one.) It looks very appealing and fun. Plus, it's cheaper price allows me to afford it. I'm really hesitant to purchase any of the other consoles because of the price range they're in. I don't exactly have too much money to dump.

I might get the 360 later on. I originally planned to buy one awile ago but I got short on money. I still don't really have enough to buy one. I'm still interested in the console though. It does have some games coming out for it that interest me.

I'm really not sure if I'll get a PS3 anymore. The price really kills it for me. Other than the obvious big hits it will have I see no reason to buy it at the moment. Maybe I'll get it a couple years after it's released if there's some games I like out for it and the price drops alot.

I'll be getting a Wii for sure either way.

I flat out refuse to get a 360. Ever since they broke my heart and made ShadowRun a damned FPS. They got my hopes up, now they get no love from me.

I only want a 360 for halo 3, the only reason why I got an Xbox was for Halo 1 + 2. I never even bought those games I just supplied an xbox for a halo 2 lan party.

I'll probably buy PS3 5 years after it comes out when the prices is down and there are enough good games out to justify that (still) high price.

I most likely won't buy the Wii. I'm not totally compelled to purchase it when I can still get an equally unique and great experience from my DS. Nintendo is still going to put out those quirky great games they're known for on both consoles and maybe I'm comparing apples to oranges but I feel that the DS has more to offer me than buying a Wii would. Wii may expand more into the 3rd party but DS has already proven and captured that market, perhaps more effectively and better than the Wii ever could (especially since the Wii is competing with the next gen graphics powerhouses with their own average specs).

To me they're both gimmick (not in a bad sense) machines and I just like the gimmick the DS provides. Also it translates pretty well to conventional games, something Wii has yet to prove. I'm positive the Wii will be fun to play but I'm not willing to shell out $200 for that experience when I can probably mooch off relatives and friends with the machine. But who knows, I didn't think I'd get a Gamecube either and I did, albeit when it was at its $99 price point.

I'll be keeping my eye on this thread (the other one fell in a gutter), I don't want a repeat of the pre-launch DS/PSP thread we had where there was like two hundred thousand pages of people getting upset and flaming eachother about the stupidest things (DS can't play Advent Children, PSP explodes the instant you touch it!)

Anyway, I'm interested in both Xbox 360 and Wii at this point. CURIOUSLY awaiting the launch price for Wii and its games, maybe I'll get that at launch, especially with Toys R Us chucking in a free launch title if you pre-order. Excite Truck looks like a return to when Midway used to make Rush games that were worth playing. Plus it'll let me look like an idiot. It'll be like standing out the front of Time Zone playing DDR all the time.

360 has a few titles that look awesome, especially the upcoming Dead Rising. But the prices of these games are putting me off. There was absolutely NO NEED to bump the prices up to $120 considering we already pay more than everywhere else. Especially with the likes of Atari announcing Test Drive for 360 will be $40 US, yet it's still gonna be $90 US here. They'll drop, eventually! Then I will consume. [/typicalaussiegamepriceaughsoangryrant]

PS3 is a thousand dollars at launch, with nothing announced so far that interests me (I'm not really a fan of the MGS games despite how nice MGS4 looks) so I'll probably pick one of those up when there's been gigantic price drops in a few years time and a whole range of obscure Simple 2000 games have hit the PAL market. :]

Oh yeah, the polls don't let you choose more than one thing, so I've just added some more options.

I bought my first PS2 5 years after it's release year.

I voted for Wii. It's a no brainer. Nintendo > Sony.

I have seen polls like this in 2001. Which next-gen system will you buy? PS2 got the 13 votes and GC got the 1 vote. I am enormously glad that it's a total reversal now.

I am going to get a Wii, but I haven't decided if I want to pre-order or not.

Also, I just thought I'd add that I don't think PS3 will drop in price as quickly as the other consoles, becuase they need to support their expensive Blue-Ray player. I don't think any other console had technology that was that advanced for its time, but I could be wrong.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

All of them... eventually. I all ready own a 360, the Wii's a given, and I'll wait for a price drop for the PS3. I've bought pretty much every other console in the past, I don't see any reason to change that this generation. Sure the PS3 is expensive and I'm pretty underwhelmed in general towards the whole generation, but oh well. Things will most likely pick up a couple years down the road. Plus, MGS4, SSBB, and Ninja Gaiden 2... awesome

Out of those, PS3 most probably. Though I still have to wait for some announcement concerning the price. I mean, I definitely won't spend a four-digit amount of money for some console which will be out-of-date in 2010 anyway.
