Is this an effective way to move?
I am moving to another state (from California to Texas) in early June. What I’m planning to do is to take all of my most necessary things on the flight with me (like some clothes, laptop etc.). A couple of days before I leave, I want to pack all of my less important things in boxes and ship them to the apartment I will be staying at in the other state. Is this an effective method?
Thanks. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
There's shipping companies and whatnot which may be more worth it if you have stuff more valuable than Craigslist furniture, but if you're planning on boxing everything I'm guessing you'd don't. If you happen to have a car you'd be surprised how much junk you can cram in there, but if you're flying you probably don't (though you could always try to make a bit of a roadtrip out of it with a friend).
I guess you're good with that plan, but be sure to insure anything you ship. Also, books/cds can be shipped via media mail which, while a lot slower, is considerably cheaper than other methods. And there's always U-Haul. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
"Is this an effective way to move?" is what one very doubtful and very self-aware crab thought to himself one day.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I've always been a big fan of the U-Haul method, but I'm also not against long drives, and usually have someone else driving the truck, so to each their own. Either way, what RR said is good if you're not doing the long drive via U-Haul.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
That depends on how much you're shipping. Standard post-office or ups shipping is Expensive if you're shipping a lot of heavy stuff. Look into a freight service. Between shipping and the flight, it'd probably be cheapest (unless you really don't have much junk) to rent a uhaul and drive.
The last time I moved, I just flew and shipped a crate to myself, but I only had the one crate and a duffel bag of stuff, I didn't try to take any furniture or bedding. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Wark! |
I think that is great idea from your side and I like that also. Basically you don't have to carry much with you and before you your stuff will be reached at the place wherever you will live. I appreciate the idea.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
